Mountain

Cross country racing demands speed and agility. The trails get twisty, the climbs get more demanding, and the competition doesn't let up. Neither should you!
The Procaliber is a pure racer, built for traveling down singletrack as fast as the rider can pedal. Every cross country machine should be built feather-light, so that nothing holds back a rider hammering out of every corner and attacking every climb. The Procaliber 9.5 is built around an OCLV Mountain carbon fiber frame, keeping total bike weight as low as possible while still maintaining a rugged design. Lightness, however, doesn't result in a rubbery frame that can't corner or transmit power. The Procaliber 9.5's frame details ensure every pedal stroke gets instant response. A press-fit BB92 bottom bracket that anchors the crankset, along with a 12mm rear thru-axle dropout add rigidity to the rear triangle. The frame's down tube isn't a heavy curved shape, but is instead a Straight Shot linear design for further weight reduction. The Knock Block keyed headset prevents the fork crown from impacting the downtube in the event of a crash. A tapered head tube adds handling precision in every technical corner. Internal cable routing and flat-mount disc brake caliper installation keep the Procaliber 9.5 looking clean and sleek, too.
Rough singletrack on a hardtail can tire any racer, no matter how fit. Trek's race-proven IsoSpeed decoupler found at the top of the seat tube allows the frame to flex vertically to absorb trail chatter without compromising overall frame rigidity. Front suspension consists of an air-adjustable RockShox Judy SL suspension fork, bringing 100mm of travel to the party.
Single-ring drivetrains have come of age, and the Procaliber 9.5 uses Shimano components to maximum effect. A 12-speed Shimano Deore RapidFire shifter operates a Shimano Deore Shadow+ rear derailleur, offering lightning-quick shifting and long service life. The lever-operated clutch on the derailleur helps keep chain tension tight to prevent dropped chains on the really rough stuff. Cool, huh? The alloy Shimano single-ring crankset sports a 30T chainring, while a Shimano Deore cassette boasts an absolutely massive 10-51T gearing range. Roller-coaster race courses are no long fearsome with the Procaliber 9.5 on your side! Rolling stock consists of Bontrager's tubeless-ready alloy Bontrager Kovee wheels wrapped with meaty 29x2.20" tubeless-ready Bontrager XR2 Team Issue tires (maximum recommended tire width is 29"x2.40", in case you were wondering). XC racing can get muddy in a hurry, but Shimano's hydraulic disc brakes help to reign in speed with excellent lever feedback and stopping power. The Procaliber 9.5's Bontrager Arvada saddle provides a comfy perch for long hours on the trails, while an alloy 2-bolt Bontrager seatpost can put up with harsh conditions without loosening. An accessory-ready alloy Bontrager Rhythm Comp stem and alloy Bontrager handlebar completes this race-ready speed machine.

Off-road riding requires plenty from the rider. The bike needs to be the right machine for the job, too. Welcome to the new Marlin 8 for 2022!
Trek knew that the Marlin 8 might be a rider's first mountain bike, and it needed to impress from the first few pedal strokes. The design team at Trek wanted the Marlin to be a top performer in handling, so they took geometry cues from Trek's off-road racers for confident handling. The bike needed to be durable, so they equipped it with the components and a frame built to handle rough terrain to make short work of bumpy singletrack. Trek's Alpha Silver aluminum helps keep the frame weight low and strength high for off-road trails. SRAM SX Eagle 12-speed shifters and a SRAM SX Eagle rear derailleur offer fingertip control, even under hard pedaling loads. An alloy SRAM SX crankset with a single 30T chainring and wide range 11-50T SRAM cassette provide a massive gearing range for tackling challenging inclines. Control on rough trails is improved with an air-adjustable RockShox Judy Silver suspension fork that boasts a lockout knob for riding pavement and hardpan gravel. Tubeless Maxxis Ardent Race tires dig in for confident grip in the dirt. Helping to reign in speed are Shimano's MT200 hydraulic disc brakes. Bontrager supplies the Arvada saddle, alloy seatpost, acessory-ready alloy Blendr stem and alloy handlebar to finish off the cockpit of this singletrack-ready machine.
