Details

Felt's Broam 40 delivers an adventure-ready machine for trips across town or trips across the state. Pavement is optional, too.

The Broam 40 starts with an aluminum frame that features an upright fit and stable geometry. There's room for 45mm tires, making this bike ready for dirt roads and backwoods camping. reflective graphics adds visibility in low-light conditions. With mounts for bottle cages, fenders and a rear rack found throughout the frame and fork, the Broam 40 can be accessorized for all manner of rides. Commuting on rough and choppy pavement? No problem. Touring on unpaved rails-to-trails surfaces? Easily Done. A carbon fiber fork soaks up vibration found on every off-road surface. The overall fit of the Broam 40 allows a wider range of riders -and rider flexbilities- to get comfortable.

Shimano's latest gravel-ready GRX components are found throughout the drivetrain, including the derailleurs and alloy crankset. The rear derailleur is equipped with a clutch that keeps the chain from flying off over truly gnarly surfaces. The 46/30T GRX crankset is paired with a Shimano 11-34T cassette, delivering a 30x34T hill-climbing gear for tackling challenging terrain. Shimano's adjustable-reach 10-speed Tiagra levers operate the derailleurs with minimal effort.

With a drivetrain like that, the Broam 40's wheels needed to be equally tough. Robust tubeless-ready alloy Devox wheels feature a 28-spoke build, centerlock rotor installation and 12mm thru-axles. They're tubeless-ready, allowing for a wide range of reliable and performance-oriented tire choices. Shod with 700x40c Maxxis Refuse tires, the Broam 40 can float over washboard tarmac, hardpan trails and potholes galore. TRP supplies the cable-operated HY/RD Hydraulic disc brakes, offering serviceablility in the field while still giving excellent stopping power. Rainy? Dusty? Dirty? Disc brakes are the solution.

Devox also supplies the alloy stem, drop handlebar and seatpost, keeping overall weight low. A comfy Selle Royal Essenza Gel saddle finishes off this useful adventure machine.
