The Devote Advanced 2 isn't a repurposed cyclocross bike with wide gearing and wider tires. It's all about speed and smoothness in rough conditions for hours on end.
Liv's new Devote Advanced 2 is designed with geometry unique to the line. Stability came first with the Devote Advanced 2, giving the rider confidence when the riding surface changes for the worse, frequently with no warning. The low bottom bracket keeps the rider's center of gravity low, allowing the rider to feel "in the bike" and between the wheels, rather than just perched on top. A more upright fit was needed for riders that are more interested in simply completing challenging rides and events rather than winning them.
The frame and fork of the Devote Advanced 2 is built with Giant's Advanced-grade Composite carbon fiber, ensuring feather-lightness and impressive torsional strength. The Advanced-grade carbon fiber "recipe" soaks up fatiguing vibration, allowing a rider to cover longer distances in comfort. A tapered OverDrive head tube/steerer tube enhances the bike's handling precision, especially in fast turns and descents. The chainstays have an almost droopy look to them, allowing very wide tires to be used (up to 45mm!) when tackling terrible gravel. The Devote Advanced 2 can also take 650B wheels if that's your preference (wheelset and tires sold separately). 12mm thru-axles not only ensure proper disc brake alignment, but also improve overall torsional strength for improved handling. A press-fit PowerCore bottom bracket anchors the crankset, providing flex-free power delivery with every pedal stroke. Internal cable routing keeps the bike looking clean and sleek as well as extending shifter cable life in dirty conditions. The usual bottle cage mounts are found in the main triangle, but a third bottle mount is found under the down tube for especially long and hot rides. Cool, huh? Giant's clever D-Fuse Composite carbon fiber seatpost soaks up hard impacts with up to 12mm of flex, enhancing ride quality further.
Shimano's excellent 11-speed GRX components are found throughout the drivetrain of the Devote Advanced 2. The adjustable-reach GRX levers feature an improved hood shape and texture, keeping the rider's hands fresher over broken jeep double-track. The new long-cage GRX rear derailleur is a Shadow-style unit, enhancing shifting performance under load. It even has a 34T large cog capacity. The GRX front derailleur is a new toggle-pivot unit, reducing the effort needed to shift to the large chainring. Cable tension can even be adjusted from the derailleur, eliminating the need for in-line barrel adjusters. Praxis supplies the alloy Alba 2D crankset with a 48/32T chainring combination, bringing incredibly low gearing to the Revolt Advanced 2. Out back, a Shimano 105 rear cassette boasts an 11-34T gearing range. Yes, that's less than a one-to-one ratio for the crazy-steep climbs while loaded down with gear!
Giant's own P-X2 Disc alloy wheels are tubeless-ready and are wrapped with tubeless 700x40c CrossCut AT 1 tires that dig into dirt with aggressive tread. Helping to keep speed in check is a pair of GRX hydraulic disc brakes. An Approach saddle sits atop the aformentioned D-Fuse seatpost, while an alloy Contact stem and alloy Contact XR D-Fuse road handlebar completes the cockpit of this expedition-ready bicycle.
"Townie bike" just isn't the right label for the Escape 2 Disc. It looks too good, it's just too quick, and you'll want to ride it just for fun!
The Escape 2 Disc checks plenty of boxes for an around-town runabout. It boasts light weight with an ALUXX-grade aluminum frame, alloy fork and aluminum wheels. Shifting is smooth and quick with Shimano 8-speed shifters and derailleurs. A lightweight 46/30T crankset and 11-34T Shimano cassette offer a wide gearing range for challenging hills and hauling bulky groceries. 700x38c S-X2 semi-treaded tires add confident grip on pavement and gravel alike. Trips in the rain can be worry-free with Tektro's hydraulic disc brakes to bring excellent stopping power in all conditions. A comfortable saddle sits atop an alloy D-Fuse seatpost, providing a comfortable perch for day trips. Mounts for racks, fenders and bottle cages make the Escape 2 Disc a practical bike as well as a sleek and stylish machine.
The FX Sport 4 is what happens when you let the designers and engineers out of their cubicles. You can tell just by looking at it. That sleek carbon fiber frame and carbon fiber fork says "I'm ready for adventure". Trek's exclusive 400 Series OCLV carbon fiber frame has been shaped for light weight and high performance. A tapered steerer tube and carbon fiber fork add handling precision to every corner and bend. The overall fit of the FX Sport 4 is more upright, allowing a wider range of riders -and rider flexibilities- to get comfortable. Internal cable routing and an aperture in the left chainstay for a DuoTrap S speed/cadence sensor (sold separately) helps keep those sleek lines wherever you look. Rack and fender mounts let you accessorize The FX Sport 4 to your heart's content. Mounts under the top tube are meant for a frame bag (sold separately) without the need for velcro straps. Even the alloy Bontrager stem comes with a convenient light or computer Blendr mount.
Trek didn't ignore the FX Sport 4's drivetrain, making it perform as well as a the bike's high-tech frameset. Shimano's 10-speed Deore shift levers feel precise and lightning-fast under your fingertips, while a clutch-equipped Shimano Deore derailleur adds long service life and smooth operation. A 42T alloy crankset and 11-46T Shimano Deore cassette boast a huge gearing range for tackling steep inclines and speedy descents. Helping to keep speed under control is the job of a set of hydraulic disc brakes. The stopping power and lever feedback ensures safer stopping in all conditions, wet or dry. The FX Sport 4 needed well-thought rolling stock to make every ride enjoyable, even on unpaved paths and trails. Bontrager supplies the 32-spoke tubeless-ready Paradigm alloy wheels and lightly treaded 700x40c Bontrager GR1 Expert tires for easy acceleration and a smooth feel, even on gravel. Bontrager's H1 saddle sits atop an alloy Bontrager seatpost, delivering a comfortable perch on day-long rides. A Satellite Plus IsoZone handlebar and long-tail handgrips takes the edge off vibration from the road (or gravel). The FX Sport 4 makes every mile more fun!
The best performance you can get is when you get maximum bike-for-your-dollar. The Giant Stance 29 2 does exactly that.
Giant's ALUXX-grade aluminum frame gets the Stance 29 2 off to a great start, with light weight, precise handling and excellent power transfer. The bike's geometry is more relaxed than an XC bike, improving confidence on steep descents and broken terrain. Giant's lightweight FlexPoint rear suspension allows the rear wheel to follow the contours of the trails with minimal moving parts. Managing the bike's handling is done with air-adjustable suspension front and rear. Out back, a Suntour Raidon R rear shock offers up 120mm of travel. Up front, a Giant Crest 34 RCL fork with 130mm of travel helps keep the bike where you point it. Both shocks feature adjustable rebound knobs for dialing in handling precision. A tapered OverDrive head tube improves handling in twisty singletrack, while internal cable routing keeps the bike looking clean and sleek.
One of the component highlights of the Stance 29 2 is the addition of Shimano's 12-speed Deore single-chainring drivetrain. Yes, this is a 12-speed full-suspension mountain bike for less than $2000! A Shimano Deore shifter, Shimano Deore 10-51T cassette, Shimano chain, and a clutch-equippped Shimano Deore rear derailleur delivers brilliant performance-per-dollar! A 30T Praxis Cadet alloy crankset does power delivery duty over every inch of the trail.
Rolling stock consists of Giant's own tubeless-ready alloy AM 29 wheels and knobby tubeless-ready 29x2.35" Maxxis Forekaster tires. The combination of a 30mm inner rim width, tubeless capability and aggressive tire tread adds boatloads of traction in rock gardens and loose surfaces. Speed control is critical in technical terrain, and Shimano's MT200 hydraulic disc brakes help with that task in all conditions, sunny or muddy. An alloy Connect seatpost, Romero saddle, alloy Contact stem, and alloy Connect Trail handlebar complete this amazing value in a trail bike.
