Moots is known for their brilliant gravel adventure bicycles, like the Routt 45. That experience went into building -and refining- their best endurance road bike yet: The Vamoots RCS. RCS stands for Routt County Special. Routt County, Colorado is where Moots is located, and is filled with a wide spectrum of roads and surface qualities. Broken blacktop, rough and choppy concrete, hardpan gravel and butter smooth tarmac are what the Vamoots RCS was made for. The frame's Reach and Stack geometry is more upright. In fact, the closest bike that fits like it in our showroom is the Trek Domane. Stable and smooth, the Vamoots RCS is ready for century rides and exploring roads that a short-wheelbase crit machine would think twice about.

The Vamoots RCS is constructed from Moots' best and lightest double-butted RSL tubeset. Lightness, strength, durability and ride quality were all carefully considered when the Vamoots RCS was designed. Different frame sizes are fabricated from tube sets with different butting specifications to preserve ride quality while keeping weight low. An oversized 44mm head tube adds to the handling precision of the Vamoots RCS, anchoring the carbon fiber fork with a Chris King headset. Moots uses 3D printed rear dropouts for precise axle and brake caliper installation. Our in-store example is a 58cm frame size. Moots can build a completely custom geometry frame, along with your choice of a long list of options, including custom finishes, extra bottle mounts, bag and fender mounts, and internal cable routing. Equipping the Vamoots RCS with a performance component group required some consideration. Durability and performance needed to be balanced with every part on this bike, and we think we have a very complete machine with the latest Ultegra components. The Shimano Ultegra Di2 12-speed component group has been a revelation to racers and recreational riders alike. With faster shifting than ever, a wider gearing range, and a more ergonomic lever design, Shimano Ultegra components continue to raise the benchmark for every rider. The "wiredless" design allows the dual control levers to operate the derailleurs wirelessly, while the derailleurs themselves use a single rechargeable battery mounted inside the frame. That wireless feature eliminates cable routing headaches for our mechanics, and keeps the bike looking clean and sleek. The user can customize the shifting with the Shimano E-Tube wireless app from their phone. Cool, huh? Our in-stock Vamoots RCS features a 50/34T compact Ultegra crankset mated to an 11-34T Shimano 12-speed cassette. Yes, that boasts a 1-to-1 gear ratio for attacking savage inclines in western Dane county.

The wheelset for the Vamoots RCS had to be up to the task of hammering around rough pavement with meaty rubber. But we also wanted to add a light and aerodynamic set of hoops to this brilliant bike. We chose the Bontrager Aeolus Pro 37 tubeless-ready carbon fiber wheelset. Light weight (1500 grams!), durable (no rider weight limit!), aerodynamic (Dual Dirctional Design rim profile!), and reliable (lifetime warrantee!), the Aeolus Pro 37 wheels are a perfect match for adventurous riders that still crave performance. They're tubeless ready, and are shod with Schwalbe's One TLE tubeless tires in a 700x30c size. Shimano Ultegra flat-mount hydraulic disc brakes bring precise stopping power to the Vamoots RCS, rain or shine.

Moots supplies the titanium Cinch seatpost and titanium Ti stem with a 4-bolt handlebar clamp. A Bontrager OCLV carbon fiber IsoCore VR-SF handlebar and Selle Italia SLR Boost saddle completes this stunning piece of craftsmanship.
