Gunnar's Hyper-X is their best bike for cyclocross and adventure! A long wheelbase and stable geometry make it a perfect choice for day-long gravel rides or rough cyclocross races. Handbuilt in Waterford, WI, the Hyper-X is an example of practiced craftsmanship and dedication to refinement. Lightweight butted chromoly steel makes up the Hyper-X's frame, giving it a lively feel over rough and choppy pavement. Stainless steel through-axle rear dropouts ensure precise alignment of the rear brake rotor as well as improving the frame's torsional strength; perfect for uphill, out-of-the-saddle charges. The Hyper-X's 44mm head tube allows the installation of carbon fiber fork's tapered steerer, improving handling on twisty descents and under hard braking. Two bottle mounts and rear rack eyelets add versatility for day-long adventures. External shifter cable routing make for easy at-home maintenance. There's room for tires up to 60mm wide for really adventurous rides. The overall fit of the Hyper-X is more upright, allowing a wider range of riders -and rider flexibilities- to get comfortable.
Shimano's 105 components bring outstanding performance and long service life to the Gunnar Hyper-X. A 50/34T Shimano 105 crankset is matched to an 11-34T Shimano cassette, bringing a very wide gearing range to help tackle challenging terrain. The Shadow-style 105 rear derailleur shifts with minimal effort, even under hard pedaling loads. 11-speed Shimano 105 dual-control levers boast a precise feel when shifting and braking, letting you concentrate on the road ahead. Shimano 105 hydraulic disc brakes offer outstanding control in all conditions, rain or shine.
Bontrager's Paradigm Comp tubeless wheels deliver on performance for the Hyper-X. A 21mm inner rim width allow wide tires to spread out their tread pattern, improving grip and control. A 24-spoke build is robust enough for gravel adventures, but is light enough for cyclocross racing. Panaracer supplies their tubeless GravelKing SK tires, bringing highly-rated rubber along for confident grip on hardpan, rough pavement and jeep doubletrack. A 700x43c size combined with a durable AX-alpha casing and low-profile tread makes for a winning combination.
A Bontrager IsoZone Elite handlebar and accessory-ready alloy Elite Blendr stem offers a wide range of hand positions for improved rider comfort. A Bontrager Verse Comp saddle features a full-length anatomic cutout for pressure relief. Bontrager's carbon fiber Pro seatpost finishes off this handcrafted adventure-ready machine.
