A touring bicycle is a true long-haul machine: A comfortable fit, a strong frameset, a wide gearing range, stable handling and places for everything you'll take with you. The Grand Disc Touring by Gunnar checks every one of those boxes.

High-performance bicycles -on or off pavement- need to carry just the rider. A touring bicycle, however, must be able to carry camping gear, supplies, food and other essentials. The strong chromoly steel frameset is the "backbone" needed to prevent rubbery handling at speed. Mounts for racks, fenders and bottle cages (at least two!) are a requirement for every touring bicycle worthy of the name. A long wheelbase and room for wide tires adds comfort to every mile. If an extended tour is planned on, plenty of cargo will fill panniers and bags, resulting in a heavy steed. Thankfully, the Grand Disc Touring features a Sugino alloy crankset with 48/36/26T triple chainrings. Out back, a Shimano Deore XT rear derailleur shifts across a Shimano 11-34T cassette, offering a massive gearing range for tackling challenging inclines while loaded down. Shimano bar-end shifters are adjustable in the field if a different cassette is installed.

The Grand Disc Touring is equipped with durable 36-spoke alloy wheels that boast high-flange hubs and stainless steel spokes. Meaty 700x37c Continental CityRide tires soak up impacts while adding grip on rough pavement. TRP's Spyre cable-operated disc brakes add confident stopping power in all conditions, -rain or shine- even while loaded down.

The way a bicycle keeps a rider comfortable during day-long adventures can't be understated. Gunnar bicycles added a Brooks B17 genuine leather saddle to the Grand Disc Touring, while natural bar tape brings an extra touch of comfort to the alloy drop handlebars.
