Trek's Domane SLR 6 Disc is a brilliant machine for century rides, weekly rides and everything in between.

At Trek Bicycles, the tireless efforts of engineers and designers in Waterloo, Wisconsin have produced a bike that magazine editors and our customers have raved about: The Domane SLR. Before a single one is released to the public, the bikes are handed to Trek's professional racing team: Trek Factory Racing. These talented riders aren't just professional pedal-pushers. They provide detailed feedback to Trek's engineering staff for improvements or to rave about a new bike's success. Classics king and multiple World Champion Fabian Cancellara had a hand in developing the original 2013 Trek Domane, and its successors have turned out to be one of Trek's best-selling and best-performing bikes for competitors and recreational riders alike.

Somehow, the latest Domane SLR is even better.

Trek begins with their exclusive OCLV 700 Series carbon fiber for the frame and fork. This ultralight material is a "recipe" of different carbon fiber materials strategically placed to add strength where needed, and add compliance in the right places for improved rider comfort. Shaping that carbon fiber allows the Domane SLR to be incredibly effective at delivering power from the crankset to the rear wheel without power-robbing flex in the frame. Where the Domane SLR excels is in the frame's compliance over rough pavement and cobblestones. Featuring the same IsoSpeed Decoupler found on the first-generation Domane, the Domane SLR boasts a new twist for better ride quality for a wider range of riders: Adjustability. The new Domane SLR features a slider under the top tube that can be adjusted in the field using a simple torque wench. By moving the slider forwards or backwards, the L-shaped seatmast becomes more or less flexible, soaking up broken pavement and potholes. In fact, the Domane SLR can be made more compliant than the original Domane 6-series. When moving the slider up to the top of the limit, the rear of the bike can be made stiffer, allowing better road feel during sweeping descents and turns on more civilized tarmac. The Domane SLR's fork has also gone through a revolution with front IsoSpeed. By adding a decoupler hidden at the top of the fork's steerer tube, the Domane SLR has 10% greater compliance than the previous version (which was pretty comfy to begin with), keeping the rider's hands, arms and shoulders more comfortable.

The details on the the Domane SLR make a huge difference in performance. The bike's threaded T47 bottom bracket offers a super-stiff anchor for the bike's crankset, returning every watt of power that the rider puts into it. A tapered head tube also adds precision to the bike's handling in high-speed turns and under hard braking. The Domane SLR 6 eTap sees flat-mount disc brake installation that reduces lateral flex in the caliper, improving brake lever feel and brake pad life. 12mm thru-axles not only simplify wheel installation with disc brakes, but also improve the frame's lateral rigidity for better power transfer and handling. The Domane SLR 6 eTap can be found in sizes as small as 47cm with a standover height as short as 27". The Domane's Endurance fit and geometry allows a wide range of rider sizes -and rider flexibilities- to get comfortable for multiple hours in the saddle. There is an aperture for a DuoTrap S speed/cadence sensor (sold separately) in the left chainstay that eliminates the need for ugly zip-ties. The Domane SLR also retains the removeable fender mounts from the previous generation, appealing to riders in wet climates and seasons. There's even an integrated 3S chain keeper that prevents dropped chains and greasy fingers.

The Domane SLR 6 eTap is equipped with SRAM's latest 12-speed Rival eTap AXS wireless components for high performance, long service life and light weight. Shifting speed is literally lightning-quick, and never suffers from corroded or dirty cables. Battery charge life is between 500-600 miles, and the batteries are reversible between front and rear derailleurs, allowing shifting in case one battery runs out. You can even check on the battery charge levels with a SRAM AXS smartphone app. The adjustable-reach dual-control levers, front and rear derailleurs, 46/33T alloy crankset, 10-36T cassette and even the chain are SRAM Rival components. The aformentioned hydraulic disc brakes allow a much wider tire (up to 38mm) to be used on the Domane SLR compared to classic rim brake calipers.

Bontrager's OCLV carbon fiber Aeolus Pro 3V wheels are tubeless-ready and sport a 25mm width for a better tire-to-road contact patch, adding to the bike's excellent ride quality. 32mm Bontrager R3 hard-Case Lite tires add confident grip, making the Domane SLR 6 eTap more sure-footed. Bontrager also supplies the ingenious carbon fiber Pro IsoCore VR-SF road handlebar, which is the last line of defense on the bike against tiring vibration. The IsoCore road handlebar has an elastomer material sandwiched between layers of OCLV carbon fiber to soak up high-frequency vibration while keeping weight low. An accessory-ready alloy Bontrager Pro Blendr stem makes handlebar computer and light mounting a snap (literally!). A Bontrager P3 Verse Elite saddle tops off the seatmast to complete this excellent Classics-conquering machine.

A SRAM AXS battery charger and BITS internal frame storage bag is included with the purchase of this bicycle.
