Trek's Domane SL 5 has been a favorite for many of our customers. For long rides on rough pavement, centuries and "challenge" events, it simply gets the job done. Trek didn't want to re-invent the Domane SL 5 for 2023, but it wanted to simplify and add lightness. Just like the previous generation, the Domane SL's lightweight 500-series OCLV Carbon frame has rear IsoSpeed to smooth out bumps in the road and reduce fatigue. The front IsoSpeed unit has been eliminated since the 32c front tire has been more effective at improving ride quality. The overall fit of the Domane remains the same, allowing a wider range of riders -and rider flexibilities- to get comfortable. The overall shape of the frameset has been refined to be more aerodynamic by using Trek's Kammtail Virtual Foil -or KVF- design. Lower aero drag can only be helpful when battling pesky headwinds! An aperture in the left chainstay allows the installation of a DuoTrap S speed/cadence sensor without the use of clumsy zip-ties. The internal storage compartment in the down tube for stowing ride essentials is a clever way of keeping the bike clean and sleek. Clearance for 38c tires allows you take on roads rough and smooth.
Shimano's 105 11-speed components are found throughout the Domane SL 5, including the dual-control levers, derailleurs, 50/34T compact alloy crankset, 11-34T cassette and hydraulic disc brakes. Known for precise operation, long service life and light weight, Shimano's 105 components make the Domane SL 5 a solid all-rounder for century rides, fast weekly training sessions or even your first triathlon!
Trek equipped the Domane SL 5 with Bontrager's Paradigm SL alloy wheels, keeping rotating mass low for easy acceleration, especially when tackling challenging terrain. They're tubeless ready, and are shod with 700x32c tubeless Bontrager R3 Hard-Case Lite tires. Reigning in speed is the job of Shimano 105 hydraulic disc brakes that deliver excellent stopping power in all conditions, rain or shine. A Bontrager Verse Comp saddle sits atop a Domane carbon seatpost, keeping the rider comfy over long miles. A Bontrager Elite IsoZone VR-SF alloy road handlebar features padding under the bar tape to reduce vibration to the rider's hands.
