A sense of adventure requires the right bike to help you follow your ambitions. Be it racing or just exploring, the Crockett 7 exceeds expectations.
Cyclocross bikes used to be afterthoughts in the minds of leading bike manufacturers, but that has changed drastically in the last few years. The Crockett 7 is a classic example of how seriously Trek takes this no-longer-obscure end of the sport. Refined geometry, light weight, a smooth ride and innovative design make the Crockett 7 a true standout. Trek's refined cyclocross geometry really shines on twisty courses, but the Stranglehold thru-axle rear dropouts can adjust the wheelbase fore-aft as much as 15mm, improving stability on rough surfaces. Increased tire clearance can be tweaked with a few tools and a few minutes of work. Trek's own 300 Series Alpha aluminum is used to build the Crockett 7, ensuring light weight and quality control at every step. The aluminum has been shaped and hydroformed to provide excellent power transfer, giving the rider confidence on start lines and steep ascents. The now-familiar tapered head tube adds an extra dash of handling precision during high-speed turns and descents. A press-fit BB86.5 bottom bracket anchors the crankset for flex-free power delivery, especially on steep ascents. The Crockett 7's top tube has been flattened for comfortable shouldering and improved ride quality. 'Cross courses are rough and muddy on purpose, and your bike needs to be survivable in that stuff. The mud clearance on the Crockett 7 is generous to say the least, and can accept up to 38mm tires front and rear. Trek's clever Control Freak internal cable routing keeps shifter cables clean and tidy, while an adjustable 3S chain keeper helps prevent frustrating chain drops. Up front, a carbon fiber IsoSpeed fork with a 12mm thru-axle dropout helps keep overall weight low while soaking up fatiguing vibration.
Shifting components on a cyclocross bike experience brutal conditions, and SRAM's Force 1 components are ready for the challenge. A single-ring drivetrain makes total sense in cyclocross racing, helping to reduce overall bike weight further while ensuring reliability, especially on race day. SRAM's 11-speed dual-control Force 1 levers and a medium-cage Force 1 rear derailleur shift the chain across an 11-32T SRAM cassette with a refined feel. An alloy Praxis Alba crankset and direct-mount 40T narrow-wide chainring does power delivery duties.
The Crockett 7's tubeless-ready alloy wheelset is designed for messy, muddy adventures. Bontrager supplies the Paradigm wheelset with a 19.5mm width for a better tire contact patch. 700x32c Bontrager CX3 Team Issue tires bring bags of grip to the Crockett 7, making short work of dirty, muddy and technical courses. Reigning in speed is the job of SRAM's Force hydraulic disc brakes, bringing excellent lever feedback and long service life in all conditions, wet or dry. Flat mount disc brake caliper installation reduces weight and promotes even pad wear as well. A Ti-railed Bontrager Montrose Elite saddle is an excellent component choice compared to ultralight carbon-railed saddles, especially when it comes to durability. Even the best riders make "close-up course inspections"... A 2-bolt Bontrager carbon fiber seatpost also brings race-day durability to the Crockett 7. An accessory-ready alloy Bontrager Pro Blendr stem and alloy Bontrager IsoSpeed VR-CF road handlebar complete this race-ready machine.
