Trek's state-of-the-art gravel adventure platform is ready to take on any adventure. From gravel racing to expeditions into parts unknown, the Checkpoint SLR 7 is your ticket to ride.
Trek began with their ultralight 700 Series OCLV carbon fiber to build the Checkpoint SLR 7's frame. Lightness was certainly part of the plan, but the design team at Trek wanted much more than that. The Checkpoint SLR boasts incredible torsional strength, ensuring flex-free power delivery with every pedal stroke. Handling twisty, technical surfaces and trails is part of the Checkpoint SLR's DNA as well, thanks to a tapered head tube/steerer tube interface. 12mm thru-axle dropouts add an extra dash of handling prowess. Trek's exclusive IsoSpeed decoupler is found at the back of the frame's top tube, allowing the seat mast to flex backwards slightly when encountering rough surfaces, potholes, cobblestones and washboard gravel. By reducing impacts that would otherwise fatigue the rider, the IsoSpeed decoupler makes every mile smoother. The Checkpoint SLR can also fit tires up to 45mm wide for really adventurous trips. The Checkpoint SLR received an updated geometry for 2022. A slightly longer top tube (and correspondingly shorter stem) moves the front wheel about 2cm further out, improving handling on descents. Called "progressive geometry" in mountain bike circles, it makes the Checkpoint more sure-footed when scrambling downhill on loose gravel. Bringing essentials is easier, thanks to a hidden compartment in the downtube under the bottle cage mount. A storage bag for a tube, CO2 inflator and tire levers can hide inside and out of the weather. Fitting bags is easy too, thanks to mounts under the top tube and "tank bag" mounts just behind the stem. Trek's design team didn't overlook gravel riding in the real world, adding Carbon Armor on the bottom of the frame's down tube to ward off flying rocks and gravel "roost".
Shimano's flagship electronic shift version of their outstanding GRX components are found throughout the Checkpoint SLR 7. Electronic Di2 shifting is literally lightning-quick, ensuring perfect shifting operation. Every. Single. Time. Even under hard pedaling loads, gear changes are flawless. The rear derailleur is equipped with a clutch for better shifting and chain retention in really rough terrain! The battery that powers the Di2 drivetrain will run for about 900 miles between charges. The battery is hidden inside the frame (and out of the weather and dirt) and can be fully recharged in about 2 hours. The GRX Di2 levers are uniquely designed for their dirty environment, providing a comfortable grip with textured lever hoods. A 48/31T Shimano GRX crankset is paired with an 11-34T Shimano cassette, bringing a very wide gearing range to the party.
Bontrager supplies the rolling stock to the Checkpoint SLR 7 with the Aeolus Pro 3V tubeless OCLV carbon fiber wheels and tubeless GR1 Team Issue tires. With a total weight of only 1575 grams, The Aeolus Pro 3V wheels help the Checkpoint SLR leap out of every corner and accelerate away from your competition. A 25mm interior rim width allow the tires to spread out on the riding surface for enhanced cornering grip. A Rapid Drive 108 freehub engages much faster, eliminating the "free play" delay when accelerating. 700x40c GR 1 Team Issue gravel tires are an excellent combination of low rolling resistance and tenacious grip. Shimano GRX hydraulic disc brakes offer excellent lever feedback and stopping power in all conditions, rain or shine (or mud). A Bontrager Pro IsoCore VR-SF carbon fiber handlebar soaks up high-frequency vibrations, while a Bontrager P3 Verse Elite saddle brings a welcome perch during day-long "challenge" rides.
A Shimano Di2 recharging cable is included with the purchase of this bicycle.
