Salsa Warroad Force AXS

"A road bike, but for mixed surfaces."

That's what plenty of riders have been asking for recently. They like the idea of a gravel bike, but don't need a full-bore, gravel-in-your-teeth fire road conquerer as their only steed. A bike that still performs well as an endurance platform is their main request. But we all know there's still plenty of "light gravel" to explore if you happen to come across it. The Elroy-SpartaTrail comes to mind, and the Warroad would be a perfect bike for it.

The Salsa Warroad is built around a carbon fiber frame and fork, delivering outstanding strength for precise handling and pedaling response. Called Class 5 VRS, the carbon fiber "recipe" and frame shape smoothes out washboard surfaces and rough pavement. The frame and fork can fit 700c tires up to 35mm wide. 650b wheels can be fitted with room for tires up to 47mm wide. 12mm thru-axles front and rear ensure perfect alignment of the wheels and brake rotors. With frame mounts for bottle cages, a top tube "tank bag", a rear rack and fenders, the Salsa Warroad has versatility to spare! There are even fork blade mounts for extra bottle cages or a front pannier rack. Internal brake hose routing keeps the Warroad looking clean and sleek. The Warroad's geometry is more upright, allowing a wider range of riders -and rider flexibilities- to get comfortable.

SRAM has brought the future of road components to the Salsa Warroad with the 12-speed SRAM Force AXS component group. With wireless operation and shifting that is literally lightning-quick, the Warroad performs brilliantly with every shift. With no cables to foul or replace, SRAM's wireless Force AXS components are a perfect choice for a machine built for many (frequently dirty) environments. There's a battery on each Force AXS derailleur that will run for approximately 500-600 miles before needing a recharge. They're reversible, allowing a rider to swap them for shifting if one drains before the other. Cool, huh? The carbon fiber SRAM Force crankset's 47/35T alloy chainrings are matched to a 10-33T SRAM 12-speed cassette, boasting a wide gearing range.

DT Swiss provides the tubeless-ready CR 1600 alloy wheels, delivering light rotating mass for easy acceleration. The CR 1600's meaty 22mm rim profile allows the tread of wide road (or cyclocross) tires to spread out when traveling across rough surfaces, delivering better overall grip and a smoother ride quality. Straight-pull stainless steel DT Swiss spokes offer a smoother feel than old-style J-bend spokes. Teravail Rampart tubeless ready tires are fitted in a 700x28c size, delivering low rolling resistance and confident cornering. SRAM Force hydraulic disc brakes bring excellent stopping power and lever feedback to every mile. A WTB SL8 saddle sits atop a vibration-damping Salsa Guide carbon fiber seat post, providing a comfortable perch for long miles. An alloy Salsa Guide stem clamps a carbon fiber Salsa Cowbell flared handlebar with a 12 degree flare.
