The full-suspension trail bike category has gotten crowded recently, but Giant has separated themselves from the pack with an amazing feature: Active Suspension
Fox Suspension calls this technology Live Valve. It can lock out the front and rear suspension automatically without rider input, even during fast transitions from smooth to rough and back. How fast? The Live Valve's microprocessor monitors shock behavior 1000 times per second and can adjust the suspension in only 3 milliseconds. Bar-mounted lockout levers are a thing of the past! Even if you leave the ground entirely -because getting airborne is part of the fun- Live Valve will prepare the front and rear shocks for a more controlled landing. Sensors on the bike and each shock give Live Valve continuous data for perfect suspension adjustment. Depending on the technical nature of the trail you're on, Live Valve also has an adjustable bump threshold controller mounted on the battery casing. The battery will need a recharge every 16 to 20 hours.
Active suspension is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the Trance Advanced Pro 29 1. The frame and rear Maestro triangle are constructed with Giant's Advanced-Grade Composite carbon fiber, delivering incredible strength for precise handling in a featherweight platform. A tapered OverDrive head tube anchors the Trance Advanced Pro 1's fork for razor-sharp handling on technical surfaces and terrain. An integrated storage compartment in the downtube keeps tools and a repair kit out of your jersey pockets. With 135mm of travel, Maestro helps keep the rear tire planted over rough trails and technical singletrack. The Maestro rear suspension features an upper and lower rocker link, ensuring smooth rear suspension operation. An incredibly stiff Advanced Forged Composite upper link eliminates any unwanted lateral flex in the suspension. At the back of the upper link is a simple feature that allows the rider to adjust the frame geometry with a single tool, even in the field. A reversible "flip chip" lets the rider adjust the geometry of the Trance Advanced 1 from low and slack to upright and nimble easily. If you like riding a variety of different trails, you'll love this! That Advanced Forged Composite upper rocker link holds an air-adjustable Fox Factory Live Valve rear shock in a wider trunnion-style mount that all but eliminates lateral binding. Up front, An air-adjustable Fox 34 Performance Elite suspension fork with 130mm of travel helps keep you pointed down the trail. Fox's Live Valve technology is found on both ends of the Trance Advanced Pro 1's suspension.
The drivetrain of the Trance Advanced Pro 1 can keep up with all this tech as well. Shimano's 12-speed Deore XT components are found throughout the drivetrain, including the shifter, clutch-equipped rear derailleur and the 10-51T cassette. Shimano's Deore XT components are known for their precise operation, longevity, lightness and overall performance for riders and racers alike. A carbon fiber Praxis Girder crankset with a single 30T chainring does power delivery duties. Giant's TRX 2 Carbon 29 wheelset also outperforms many competitors, thanks to a light and durable tubeless carbon fiber rim. Boost 110/148 hub spacing adds lateral strength to the wheels, improving cornering feel. When it comes to tires, a Maxxis Minion (front) and Maxxis Aggressor (rear) combination is a brilliant pairing for a wide variety of trails. The 29x2.5" tires are set up tubeless from the factory. Shimano's Deore XT hydraulic disc brakes with 180mm rotors boast excellent stopping power and lever feedback. A Romero SL saddle sits atop a TranzX dropper post, while a Contact SL 35 alloy stem and a carbon fiber Contact SLR TR35 handlebar complete this high-tech trail conquerer.
