Full Suspension Mountain Bikes
This is Trek's answer to the question: Who makes a world-beating cross-country mountain bike that can handle marathon-length events?
The Top Fuel 9.9 could be the best full-suspension XC racer on the planet. It's absurdly light at less than 25 pounds (!!) when set up tubeless. The main frame and rear suspension arms are all made from Trek's exclusive OCLV Mountain carbon fiber, bringing incredible strength to handle every pedal stroke over rough trails. Every aspect of the main frame has been optimised for high performance without adding pounds. The frame's Straight Shot downtube eliminates plenty of material while enhancing torsional strength. Don't worry, the fork crown won't whack the down tube during a crash, thanks to a clever Knock Block steerer stop at the top of the head tube. Out back, the Active Braking Pivot (or ABP) full suspension geometry isolates braking forces from suspension movement, so every gnarly downhill hairpin won't feel like a major test of your riding talents. Control Freak internal cable routing, a tapered head tube, and downtube-mounted Carbon Armor are examples of the details that make every Trek Top Fuel mountain bike a clear leader in XC racing machines.
The air-adjustable RockShox Pike Ultimate suspension fork helps to tame rock gardens and challenging course features with ease. 120mm of travel soaks up impacts, while a bar-mounted lockout twist-lever shuts off the shock when charging along hardpan and jeep doubletrack. The rear shock is also a RockShox Deluxe Ultimate unit, bringing 115mm of travel and the aforementioned lockout function.
Trek chose SRAM's best off-road drivetrain for the Top Fuel 9.9: 12-speed Eagle AXS. Yes, this is the wireless shifting SRAM drivetrain for mountain bikes. Powered by a rechargeable Li-Ion battery, every shift is perfect. Every. Single. Time. The XX1 AXS rear derailleur can handle hard pedaling loads and poorly-timed shifts with ease. Plus, there's no shift cable or housing to get nasty in messy conditons! Cool, huh? A 10-50T SRAM Eagle rear cassette boasts a massive gearing range for roller-coaster trails and courses. Power delivery is done through a carbon fiber SRAM XX1 Eagle crankset with a single 32T direct-mount chainring.
Bontrager supplies the tubeless-ready OCLV carbon fiber Kovee Pro 30 wheelset. The 30mm-wide internal rim width allows the tire to spread out for better trail contact, enhancing lateral grip and reduce rolling resistance. Boost110/148 thru-axle hubs improve lateral rigidity, while a Rapid Drive 108 rear freehub makes pedaling response lightning-quick. With a total wheelset weight of only 1500 grams (without tires or cassette), the Top Fuel 9.9 will leap out of corners and hairpins like a jackrabbit! Bontrager's 29x2.4" XR3 Team Issue tires are also tubeless-ready, bringing bags of grip to any trail surface. SRAM Level Ultimate hydraulic disc brakes boast excellent stopping power in all conditions, rain or shine (or mud).
The Top Fuel 9.9's RockShox Reverb AXS dropper post is just as high-performance as the rest of the bike. It's wireless, using a bar-mounted remote lever for clean installation, and uses the same rechargeable battery as the SRAM XX1 Eagle AXS rear derailleur. A carbon-railed Montrose Pro saddle, Kovee Pro stem, OCLV carbon fiber Line Pro handlebar complete this world-beating off-road racer.
A SRAM eTap AXS battery charger is included with the purchase of this bicycle.
This bicycle can be ordered through Trek's Project One program. Tens of thousands of color and component configurations can be ordered, making the Top Fuel 9.9 AXS uniquely your own. Please call for details.
Welcome to the new Top Fuel for 2022. More versatile, more travel, more fun!
The Top Fuel platform got a redesign for 2022, with an aim towards improving the bike's prowess on technical trails. A slightly longer top tube and slacker head angle gives the Top Fuel a more confident feel on technical descents and rough trail features. With the Top Fuel 9.8, Trek still uses their world-class OCLV Mountain carbon fiber in the frame and rear triangle, ensuring very light weight and high strength. Steep inclines and twisty singletrack remain the Top Fuel 9.8's playground.
Trek's proprietary Active Braking Pivot (or ABP) rear suspension has a unique design that isolates braking forces from the action of the rear suspension. The concentric rear pivot allows the shock to work smoothly in all conditions, from washboard hardpan to stair-step descents. The ABP suspension's lower front pivot is also in line with the top of the chainring, eliminating any wasted energy during hard pedaling. With rear suspension travel bumped up to 120mm, the Top Fuel 9.8 is more capable than ever. An air-adjustable RockShox Deluxe Ultimate RCT shock features adjustable rebound for perfect fine tuning for different trail conditions, riding styles and rider weights. The lower shock mount is also a reversible Mino Link. By flipping the Mino Link, the geometry of the Top Fuel 9.8 can be changed, depending on rider preferences and trail conditions. The rear shock works though an ultra-stiff magnesium rocker link that helps keep the rear suspension working smoothly.
The details found on every carbon fiber full suspension bike from Trek are still there.
-A tapered head tube that anchors the suspension fork, improving handling and front braking -Oversized down tube with Internal Frame Storage and BITS tool roll -Control Freak internal cable routing for rattle-free riding and easy cable servicing -Downtube guard to deflect gravel spray off the front tire -An updated Knock Block headset that prevents the handlebar from smashing the top tube
Up front, an air-adjustable RockShox SID Select+ suspension fork does handling duties. 120mm of travel matches the Top Fuel's rear suspension, while a 15mm thru-axle adds an extra dash of razor-sharpness to every technical trail.
Shimano's proven 12-speed Deore XT components make up the drivetrain of the Top Fuel 9.8. The 12-speed shifter, clutch-equipped rear derailleur, 30T single-ring crankset, 10-51T cassette and even the chain are Shimano XT components. The RapidFire shifter boasts a dual-action lever that shifts to a smaller cog with either a push or a pull. That massive cassette is a mixture of aluminum and steel assembled in a lightweight package and backed by a flex-resistant 1-piece spider. The 30T chainring is a direct-mount unit, keeping overall crankset weight low.
Bontrager's Line Elite 30 OCLV carbon fiber tubeless wheels make for brilliant rolling stock on the Top Fuel 9.8. A 29mm internal rim width offers a meaty platform for the bike's Bontrager XR 4 Team Issue 29x2.4" tires. The thru-axle rear hub sports a Rapid Drive 108 cassette that allows for much faster engagement when pedaling out of hairpins and uphill curves. Reigning in speed is the job of Shimano's Deore XT 4-piston hydraulic disc brakes. Yes, just like on a MotoGP bike, more pistons make for better braking performance.
What would a full-suspension mount bike be without a dropper post? The Top Fuel 9.8 is equipped with a Line Elite dropper post that gets the saddle out of the way with the push of the bar-mounted remote lever. A Bontrager Arvada saddle sits atop the dropper post, bringing a comfy perch to the bike. The Bontrager Line Pro OCLV carbon fiber handlebar has a 35mm clamp diameter, and is mated to an alloy Bontrager Line Pro Knock Block stem.
The Top Fuel family brings World Cup performance to you, making every inch of trail go by that much faster.
The Active Braking Pivot -or ABP- rear suspension geometry and Full Floater shock mount makes the Top Fuel a true standout in full-suspension cross country mountain bikes. Instant reaction to changing surfaces and terrain, as well as zero shock compression during hard braking make the Top Fuel a winner in the arena of cross country race machines. 115mm of suspension travel soaks up rough singletrack with aplomb, letting you concentrate on upcoming trail features (and fellow racers). Adding all that race-bred tech to an OCLV Mountain carbon fiber frame elevates the Top Fuel 9.8 beyond its competitors, ensuring feather-light weight and incredible torsional strength. Trek's frame geometry has been proven time and again during cross-country races around the world, and that geometry is found on the Top Fuel as well. A tapered head tube adds an extra dash of razor-sharpness to the Top Fuel's handling, while a press-fit PF92 bottom bracket anchors the SRAM GX crankset for flex-free power delivery. Control Freak internal cable routing keeps the Top Fuel 9.8 looking clean and sleek with no rattles, while carbon armor under the down tube resists flying gravel and debris. The Top Fuel's overall geometry can be tweaked slightly by rotating the Mino Link suspension pivot at the top of the rear stays. Want a more relaxed geometry on the Top Fuel 9.8? simply rotate the Mino Link to get a slacker head angle for a more stable feel. The oversized Straight Shot down tube adds torsional strength without adding weight. The bottom of the down tube is protected from spinning fork crowns by a clever Knock Block keyed headset.
Out back, the air-adjustable RockShox SID Luxe Ultimate shock delivers outstanding performance from washboard trails to hard landings. The Top Fuel 9.8's suspension fork is also a RockShox SID Select+ unit with 120mm of travel. RockShox suspension technology helps tackle rock gardens and root "fun houses" without breaking a sweat. Air adjustability allows a wider range of rider weights and riding skills to get a perfect setup for nearly every trail. Both shocks boast a lockout feature that can be activated with a single DropLock bar-mounted lever.
SRAM's 12-speed GX Eagle components are found throughout the drivetrain of the Top Fuel 9.8, including the shifter, rear derailleur, carbon fiber 32T single-ring crankset, 10-52T cassette and even the chain. Worry-free operation and high performance with every shift is built into every GX Eagle component. Bontrager's Kovee Elite 30 wheels are built from OCLV Mountain carbon fiber, bringing very light weight and impressive durability to every trail. The 29mm wide rims allow the tire's "footprint" to spread out for improved traction and lateral grip. A Rapid Drive freehub brings lightning-fast pedaling engagement with every turn of the crankset. They're tubeless ready, and are wrapped with meaty 29x2.40" Bontrager XR3 Team Issue tires. SRAM G2 RS 4-piston hydraulic disc brakes boast excellent stopping power and lever feedback for confident speed control in all conditions, rain or shine (or mud).
A Bontrager Montrose Elite saddle sit atop a Bontrager Line Elite dropper post. A bar-mounted lever cleverly stacked with the lockout lever allows you to get he saddle out of the way on steep descents with the press of a lever. An OCLV carbon fiber Line Pro handlebar and alloy Kovee Pro stem completes this capable trail conqueror.
Cross country racing demands plenty from the rider and the bike. The longer the course, the more technical the terrain and the tougher the competition, the better the bike needs to be. Welcome to the Anthem Advanced Pro.
Any full suspension mountain bike needs to have an incredibly strong and light "backbone" for optimum performance. The Advanced Composite carbon fiber main frame of the Anthem Advanced Pro allows the bike to transfer power with lightning-quick response. A PowerCore bottom bracket anchors the crankset for flex-free power delivery. The OverDrive tapered head tube adds an extra dash of razor-sharpness in technical singletrack. The frame's torsional strength allows the suspension -on both ends- to perform precisely. The rear Maestro swingarm is also produced with Advanced-grade Composite carbon fiber, bringing precise handling and very light weight to the chassis. The Maestro suspension geometry itself doesn't soak up your efforts from pedaling due to the main lower pivot being directly in line with the chain. The upper and lower suspension elements of the Maestro suspension are uneven, allowing the wheel to travel slightly backwards with every impact. The shock can respond better for improved control over terrain features rough and smooth. The air-adjustable Fox Float DPS Performance Elite rear shock delivers 90mm of travel; perfect for XC courses and fast singletrack. The Advanced Forged Composite rocker link has the shock installed in a Trunnion mount, all but eliminating binding from lateral friction.
The Anthem Advanced Pro's suspension fork is an air-adjustable Fox 32 Float SC Performance Elite unit. Lightweight step-cast lowers, adjustable rebound and 100mm of travel deliver high performance for the XC racer. Both shocks can be locked out with a bar-mounted remote lever.
Shimano's award-winning Deore XT components are found throughout the Anthem Advanced Pro 1. The single-ring 32T crankset, 12-speed RapidFire shifter, Shadow-style derailleur, 10-51T Hyperglide+ cassette, and the flat-mount hydraulic disc brakes are all designed to work perfectly in concert.
Giant's own tubeless-ready carbon fiber XCR-1 29'er wheels aren't just feather-light, they're plenty strong for tackling rough trails and hard landings. They're tubeless-ready, and feature Boost110/148 hub spacing for improved high-speed handling. 31mm wide rims allow the tires to spread out for a better "footprint" on the trail. The tubeless tires themselves are Maxxis 29x2.25" Recon Race rubber with a low-profile tread for low rolling resistance.
The Anthem Advanced Pro's "furniture" consists of a Composite carbon fiber Contact seatpost, Contact SL saddle, alloy Contact SL stem and Composite carbon fiber Contact SLR XC handlebar.
Do you have racing aspirations, but don't want to break the bank? How about a full-suspension machine that climbs as well as it descends? Trek's Top Fuel line has an entry-level model that won't disappoint.
The Top Fuel range of mountain bikes from Trek have been at the leading edge of off-road technology for years. Athletes have won national championships and world championship medals aboard Trek's Top Fuel platform, and now you can own one at a more affordable price level. Trek built the Top Fuel 7's chassis with their proprietary Alpha Platinum aluminum, keeping overall weight low for exceptional climbing and maneuverability in tight quarters. A threaded bottom bracket and tapered head tube anchor the crankset and fork for a responsive feel in technical and challenging terrain. A clever Knock Block headset-mounted steerer stop prevents the fork crown from denting the frame's down tube in the event of an unexpected inspection of the greenery. Progressive frame geometry brings confident handling to every inch of singletrack. The Top Fuel 7's race-proven Active Braking Pivot (or ABP) rear suspension geometry helps keep the rear wheel planted on technical trails without absorbing pedaling force or contracting under hard braking. The suspension's upper EVO link prevents lateral biding in the rear shock, allowing it to operate smoothly in rough terrain. Need to tweak the geometry for different trails? The reversible Mino Link chip at the bottom mount of the rear shock can be flipped to alter the bike's center of gravity and handling. Cool, huh? The air-adjustable Fox Performance Float DPS rear shock is air adjustable, allowing the bike to be set up for lighter or heavier riders with a shock pump. Up front, an air-adjustable RockShox 35 Gold RL suspension fork boasts 120mm of travel, just like the rear suspension. Control Freak internal cable routing and a downtube-mounted guard lets you know Trek made the Top Fuel 7 to get dirty. An internal storage compartment in the downtube under the bottle cage mounts eliminate the need for a seat bag.
Shimano supplies the drivetrain components for the Top Fuel 7, bringing additional tech to a winning platform. A 12-speed Shimano SLX shifter and clutch-equipped Deore XT rear derailleur cover gear change duties on the Top Fuel 7, bringing precise operation and durability at your fingertips. A massive Shimano Deore 10-51T cassette offers plenty of gearing range for roller-coaster race courses and trails, while a single-ring Shimano Deore crankset and direct-mount 30T chainring keep rotating weight low.
