29-Inch Wheel (29ers)
This is Trek's answer to the question: Who makes a world-beating cross-country mountain bike that can handle marathon-length events?
The Top Fuel 9.9 could be the best full-suspension XC racer on the planet. It's absurdly light at less than 25 pounds (!!) when set up tubeless. The main frame and rear suspension arms are all made from Trek's exclusive OCLV Mountain carbon fiber, bringing incredible strength to handle every pedal stroke over rough trails. Every aspect of the main frame has been optimised for high performance without adding pounds. The frame's Straight Shot downtube eliminates plenty of material while enhancing torsional strength. Don't worry, the fork crown won't whack the down tube during a crash, thanks to a clever Knock Block steerer stop at the top of the head tube. Out back, the Active Braking Pivot (or ABP) full suspension geometry isolates braking forces from suspension movement, so every gnarly downhill hairpin won't feel like a major test of your riding talents. Control Freak internal cable routing, a tapered head tube, and downtube-mounted Carbon Armor are examples of the details that make every Trek Top Fuel mountain bike a clear leader in XC racing machines.
The air-adjustable RockShox Pike Ultimate suspension fork helps to tame rock gardens and challenging course features with ease. 120mm of travel soaks up impacts, while a bar-mounted lockout twist-lever shuts off the shock when charging along hardpan and jeep doubletrack. The rear shock is also a RockShox Deluxe Ultimate unit, bringing 115mm of travel and the aforementioned lockout function.
Trek chose SRAM's best off-road drivetrain for the Top Fuel 9.9: 12-speed Eagle AXS. Yes, this is the wireless shifting SRAM drivetrain for mountain bikes. Powered by a rechargeable Li-Ion battery, every shift is perfect. Every. Single. Time. The XX1 AXS rear derailleur can handle hard pedaling loads and poorly-timed shifts with ease. Plus, there's no shift cable or housing to get nasty in messy conditons! Cool, huh? A 10-50T SRAM Eagle rear cassette boasts a massive gearing range for roller-coaster trails and courses. Power delivery is done through a carbon fiber SRAM XX1 Eagle crankset with a 32T single direct-mount chainring.
Bontrager supplies the tubeless-ready OCLV carbon fiber Kovee Pro 30 wheelset. The 30mm-wide internal rim width allows the tire to spread out for better trail contact, enhancing lateral grip and lower rolling resistance. Boost110/148 thru-axle hubs improve lateral rigidity, while a Rapid Drive 108 rear freehub makes pedaling response lightning-quick. With a total wheelset weight of only 1500 grams (without tires or cassette), the Top Fuel 9.9 will leap out of corners and hairpins like a jackrabbit! Bontrager's 29x2.4" XR3 Team Issue tires are also tubeless-ready, bringing bags of grip to any trail surface. SRAM Level Ultimate hydraulic disc brakes boast excellent stopping power in all conditions, rain or shine (or mud).
The Top Fuel 9.9's RockShox Reverb AXS dropper post is just as high-performance as the rest of the bike. It's wireless, using a bar-mounted remote lever for clean installation, and uses the same rechargeable battery as the SRAM XX1 Eagle AXS rear derailleur. A carbon-railed Montrose Pro saddle, Kovee Pro stem, OCLV carbon fiber Line Pro handlebar complete this world-beating off-road racer.
A SRAM eTap AXS battery charger is included with the purchase of this bicycle.
This bicycle can be ordered through Trek's Project One program. Tens of thousands of color and component configurations can be ordered, making the Top Fuel 9.9 AXS uniquely your own. Please call for details.
The Pique Advanced Pro 29 1 is built to be hammered down technical singletrack and help you develop skills and confidence along the way. Competition? Exploration? This race-ready machine will get you there! The Pique Advanced Pro's ultralight Advanced-grade Composite carbon fiber frame and rear triangle makes the bike feel effortless on long climbs. The fit and geometry wasn't built for "Joe average", and fits female riders better! Liv's exclusive Maestro rear suspension helps keep the rear wheel planted in rock gardens and root-strewn trails. The rear Fox Float DPS Performance Elite shock is air-adjustable and is installed in a trunnion mount that reduces lateral shock binding. 100mm of rear suspension travel is useful when tackling technical descents! Up front, an air-adjustable Fox 32 Float SC Performance Elite suspension fork boasts 100mm of travel, bringing confident control in the twisties. A lockout switch on the left handlebar shuts off the suspension when blasting down gravel surfaces and fire roads. A tapered OverDrive head tube adds an extra dash of precision to the Pique Advanced Pro's handling. Anchoring the crankset is a press-fit OverDrive bottom bracket, reducing drivetrain flex. Internal cable routing adds a sleek look to the Pique Advanced Pro 1 as well. The frame design also allows downtube bottle cages on all frame sizes, XS-L.
Shimano supplies the 12-speed Deore XT shifters and Deore XT Shadow+ rear derailleur, adding precise operation to every gear change. A Shimano Deore XT 30T alloy crankset and 10-51T Deore XT cassette adds a huge gearing range, helping to make short work of roller-coaster singletrack. Tubeless carbon fiber XCR-1 29 wheels accelerate out of every corner with ease! A 25mm wide rim allows the tire to produce a wider "footprint" on the trails, enhancing traction and reducing rolling resistance. Those high-tech hoops are wrapped with tubeless 29x2.25" Maxxis Recon Race tires, bringing boatloads of grip to every mile. Shimano Deore XT hydraulic disc brakes add positive stopping power in all conditions, rain or shine.
When the Pique Advanced Pro comes with a dropper post, you know the engineers ride off-road, too. This bike's Contact Switch dropper post features a bar-mounted remote lever to get the Sylvia SL saddle out of the way on steep "tip-ins". An alloy Contact SL stem and Contact SLR XC Flat handlebar finishes this off-road trail-conquerer.
You've gotta see the Dark Iridescent color in person!
Light weight, ultra-nimble handling, instant pedaling response and a rugged build that withstands the harshest XC courses. That's what every racer wants. Giant spent years developing the Anthem Advanced Pro 29 racing on the World Cup stage, and the results are astonishing. Giant's Advanced Composite carbon fiber and resin are produced in-house, and this is before a single mold is used for the Anthem Advanced Pro's main triangle. The result is perfectly consistant manufacturing of the most critical part of any bicycle: Theframe. Torsional strength is needed not only for power delivery, but for precise handling in twisty trails. The oversized down tube between the PowerCore bottom bracket and tapered OverDrive head tube helps anchor both ends of this critical element of the frame for razor-sharp handling and instant pedaling response. From construction to geometry to World Cup racing development, the frame of Anthem Advanced Pro 29 is now a rock-solid "backbone" for tackling any terrain found in cross-country racing.
Added to the Anthem Advanced Pro 29 is Giant's own Maestro rear suspension. Using upper and lower rocker links like the suspension of a racing car, the Maestro suspension keeps the rear wheel planted over technical singletrack with 90mm of travel, no matter the speed. Boost rear hub spacing helps improve lateral wheel rigidity, adding to the Anthem Advanced Pro's handling on loose surfaces. The Maestro's upper Forged Composite rocker link resists twisting, preventing lateral binding as the rear shock compresses. The wider Trunnion shock installation improves shock response futher. The rear shock itself is an air-adjustable Fox Float DPS Performance Elite unit with adjustable rebound and a remote lockout lever, allowing a wide range of riders and rider weights to modify the Anthem Advanced Pro's suspension feel for all manner of technical trails. 90mm of travel helps keep the rear wheel planted on rough and choppy singletrack. Up front, an air-adjustable Fox 32 Float SC Performance Elite suspension fork features a bar-mounted remote lockout lever, tapered OverDrive steerer, Kabolt thru-axle and Boost110 hub spacing. 100mm of suspension travel keeps the bike pointed where you want it (and not where you don't...)
Shimano brings their latest 12-speed Deore XT components to the Anthem Advanced Pro, including a Deore XT shifter, Deore XT Shadow+ rear derailleur, a wide-range 12-speed 10-51T Deore XT cassette and a Deore XT crankset with 32T direct-mount chainring. Not a bad lineup for XC racing!
Giant brought something special to the Anthem Advanced Pro 29 2 with their tubeless-ready Composite XCR-1 29 wheelset. Yes, these wheels are built with featherlight and durable carbon fiber rims, keeping overall rotating weight incredibly low. The wheels are shod with tubeless-ready Maxxis IKON 29x2.25" tires, adding boatloads of grip in rock gardens and root "fun houses". Helping to keep speed in check is a set of Shimano Deore XT hydraulic disc brakes, offering excellent lever feedback and impressive stopping power in all conditions, rain or shine. A Composite Contact seatpost, alloy-railed Contact SL saddle, alloy Contact SL stem and alloy Contact SLR XC handlebar completes this cross-country racer.
Liv makes a strong case for value in a full-suspension trail machine. Kiss your ancient hardtail goodbye!
The ALUXX SL-Grade aluminum frame on the Intrigue 29 2 makes a stong case by itself. The shaped and tapered frame tubes help keep overall weight low while providing a strong platform for the rear Maestro suspension. The upper rocker arm in the Maestro suspension is a one-piece unit made from an Advanced Forged Composite material. It resists torsional twisting that would otherwise cause friction in the rear shock. The eyelets for the rear shock are set further apart in a Trunnion mount, improving the shock's bump response. At the rear of the upper rocker is a pair of two-position Flip Chips that can be reversed to change the bike's geometry. From upright and nimble to lower and slacker, the Intrigue 29 2 can be customized for the day's challenges. 125mm of rear Maestro suspension travel adds bags of grip over technical trails, while the air-adjustable Fox Float DPS Performance rear shock can be set up for a wide range of rider weights and skill levels. An air-adjustable Fox 34 Float Rhythm suspension fork adds 140mm of travel for confident handling in rock gardens and root "fun houses". A tapered head tube/steerer tube interface adds an extra dash of handling precision. Need a short standover height? The Intrigue's Small size needs an inseam of only 28.8" for a safe fit!
The drivetrain of the Intrigue 29 2 doesn't want to make you overthink your options. Shimano's single-ring SLX shifting lets you concentrate on the trail and brings 12 speeds to the party! The rear Shimano SLX cassette features a 10-51T gearing range paired with a Shimano SLX 30T single-ring alloy crankset. That will make even the most challenging trails seem less fearsome! Shimano's 12-speed SLX RapidFire Plus shifter and clutch-equipped SLX rear derailleur operate with lightning speed, even while under hard pedaling loads. Tubeless-ready alloy Giant AM 29 wheels boast a 30mm wide rim, allowing the tires to place a wider "footprint" on the trail for maximum traction. The wheels are shod with meaty 29x2.5" front/29x2.4" rear Maxxis Minion DHF (front)/Maxxis Dissector (rear) tires, allowing you to attack every trail with confident grip. All that makes the Intrigue 29 2 pretty capable at speed, but the rider and bike are only as fast as the brakes are good. Helping to reign in speed in all conditions (wet or dry), is the job of Shimano's 4-piston hydraulic disc brakes, bringing stopping power and excellent lever feedback to the Intrigue 29 2. Big 203mm front/180mm rear rotors disperse heat and improve stopping power in all conditions, too. A Liv Sylvia saddle sits atop a alloy Contact Switch dropper seatpost, complete with bar-mounted remote lever. An alloy Contact SL 35 stem and alloy Contact Trail 35 handlebar completes this off-road trail conquerer.
