Internal cable routing and an aperture in the left chainstay for a DuoTrap S speed/cadence sensor (sold separately) helps keep those sleek lines wherever you look. Rack and fender mounts let you accessorize The FX Sport 4 to your heart's content. Mounts under the top tube are meant for a frame bag (sold separately) without the need for velcro straps. Even the alloy Bontrager stem comes with a convenient light or computer Blendr mount.
Trek didn't ignore the FX Sport 4's drivetrain, making it perform as well as a the bike's high-tech frameset. Shimano's 10-speed Deore shift levers feel precise and lightning-fast under your fingertips, while a clutch-equipped Shimano Deore derailleur adds long service life and smooth operation. A 42T alloy crankset and 11-46T Shimano Deore cassette boast a huge gearing range for tackling steep inclines and speedy descents. Helping to keep speed under control is the job of a set of hydraulic disc brakes. The stopping power and lever feedback ensures safer stopping in all conditions, wet or dry. The FX Sport 4 needed well-thought rolling stock to make every ride enjoyable, even on unpaved paths and trails. Bontrager supplies the 32-spoke tubeless-ready Paradigm alloy wheels and lightly treaded 700x40c Bontrager GR1 Expert tires for easy acceleration and a smooth feel, even on gravel. Bontrager's H1 saddle sits atop an alloy Bontrager seatpost, delivering a comfortable perch on day-long rides. Checkpoint's aluminum-framed ALR 5 represents Trek's commitment to riders looking for freedom and adventure, but who also look for value.
The Checkpoint ALR 5 combines rugged construction, a responsive feel, versatile design and a new geometry for riders looking to discover (or rediscover) adventure cycling. The frameset of the Checkpoint ALR for 2022 is slightly different with a slightly longer top tube and correspondingly shorter stem and handlebar reach. Mountain bike designers call this "progressive geometry", allowing better control on gravel-strewn descents. A change to the fork rake ensures the nimble handling of previous Checkpoint bicycles hasn't changed. An upright fit allows a wider range of riders -and rider flexibilities- to get comfortable. The 300 Series Alpha aluminum frame features tapered and butted tubes created by hydroforming, keeping weight low while adding plenty of strength. There's room for tires up to 45mm (!), depending on rim width. A tapered head tube/steerer tube interface also adds handling precision while traversing rough surfaces. There's more strength to be found at the threaded T47 bottom bracket that all but eliminates power-robbing flex at the crankset. A 3S chain keeper, Control Freak internal cable routing, and accessory mounts from stem to stern demonstrate how much this bike is ready for expeditions across town or across the state. There are even mounts under the top tube for a direct-mount frame bag.

Adjustable-reach dual-control levers, a clutch-equipped rear derailleur, toggle-pivot front derailleur, flat-mount disc brakes and a redesigned 46/30T compact crankset are all Shimano GRX components. An 11-34T Shimano cassette boasts a huge gearing range for tackling challenging terrain. Tubeless-ready alloy Bontrager Paradigm wheels are wrapped with Bontrager GR1 Team Issue 700x40c tubeless-ready gravel tires, offering easy acceleration and confident grip in a wide range of surfaces. Shimano GRX hydraulic disc brakes bring effective stopping power to the Checkpoint ALR 5 in all conditions, rain or shine. A Bontrager P3 Verse Comp saddle sits atop an alloy Bontrager seatpost, while an accessory-ready Bontrager Elite Blendr stem and flared alloy Bontrager Elite Gravel road handlebars with a 13 degree flare complete this capable machine.
The Crockett 5 Disc was built with cyclocross racing in mind. That being said, all of the Crockett models serve any rider well if they're looking for a spring training bike or "low-intensity gravel" bike. The Crockett 5 Disc is the most affordable machine, built around a hydroformed 300 Series Alpha aluminum frame and all-carbon fork. The frame's tubes have been hydroformed, keeping weight low and torsional strength high. The underside of the top tube is flattened, making for easier shouldering on muddy run-ups. Trek's Invisible Weld technology not only looks fantastic, but reduces overall frame weight. Control Freak internal cable routing keeps the Crockett 5 Disc looking clean as well as protecting the derailleur cable from dirt and water. A tapered head tube anchors the large down tube effectively, adding an extra level of handling precision during high-speed corners and descents. The threaded T47 bottom bracket ensures flex-free power delivery with every pedal stroke; a critical attribute when charging uphill towards the finish line. The Crockett's 12mm rear thru-axle enhances the strength of the bike's rear triangle, reducing lateral flex in the frame. The Crockett 5's Cross fork is not only light (due to being a fully carbon fiber build from steerer to dropouts), but also soaks up fatiguing vibration. Flat-mount disc brake caliper installation on the frame and fork helps reduce overall frameset weight further, but also enhances brake lever feedback and improves pad wear. A 12mm thru-axle at the fork adds an extra layer of handling precision.
The Crockett 5 Disc needed a drivetrain that could put up with muddy conditions while still getting the job done. Enter SRAM's Rival 1 components.
SRAM's single-ring Rival 1 dual-control levers and rear derailleur make for a lightweight, low maintenance drivetrain. 11-speed shifting across an 11-32T SRAM cassette is done with a single "DoubleTap" button on the right Rival 1 lever. A single 40T chainring is mounted on an alloy Praxis Alba M30 crankset, offering low rotating weight and excellent torsional strength when putting the power down. A set of tubeless-ready alloy Bontrager Affinity Disc wheels are wrapped with race-ready 700x32c Bontrager CX3 Team Issue tires, bringing boatloads of traction on loose surfaces, gravel and mud.
SRAM's Rival hydraulic disc brakes help with speed control in all conditions, rain or shine (or mud). Bontrager also supplies the P3 Verse Comp saddle, durable alloy 2-bolt seatpost, accessory-ready alloy Elite Blendr stem and alloy VR-C road handlebar.
