Trek Emonda SLR 6 Disc
$4,800.00 $6,300.00 24% Off

When the first-gen Emonda SLR appeared, jaws dropped everywhere. It was light. Like, science-fiction light.

Trek has somehow managed to make a lighter version of the Emonda's SLR frame, but can run disc brakes.

Let that soak in for a second. The disc-brake-ready version of the Emonda SLR frame weighs in at an absurd 665 grams for a 56cm frame (H1 fit). The disc brake fork is also an all-carbon unit, and weighs only 350 grams. That's actually lighter than the previous-gen caliper-brake version. How did the mad scentists at Trek in Waterloo do it?! They started with a revamped version of their in-house 700 Series OCLV carbon fiber material. The qualities of this year's 700 Series OCLV carbon is different due to changes in raw material, layup schedule and resin formulation. With the aid of in-house digital prototyping, the Emonda SLR's frame design also went through refinements from stem to stern. The hourglass-shaped top tube and stouter chainstays are the more obvious clues to the new Emonda SLR's changes, while 12mm thru-axles add torsional anchor points for better power delivery and handling. The tapered head tube and BB90 bottom bracket are still there, but they function better with the improved frame architecture and material "recipe". Aerodynamics didn't enter into the equation; only lightness and ride quality mattered when the Emonda SLR Disc was under development. Internal cable routing keeps the Emonda SLR Disc looking sleek, while an aperture in the left chainstay for a DuoTrap S speed/cadence sensor (sold separately) eliminates the need for clumsy zip-ties. The ride quality was improved with the new 700 Series OCLV, giving the Emonda SLR a smoother feel over rough pavement.

Equipping the Emonda SLR with Shimano's excellent 11-speed Ultegra R8000 components was an easy choice. Known for light weight, precise functionality, and overall durability, Ultegra components just work well for racers and recreational riders alike. The dual-control STI levers require less effort to shift than the previous generation, and still boast an adjustable lever reach for smaller hands. The tucked-in Shadow-style rear derailleur can handle much larger cassettes while shifting better under hard pedaling loads. The front derailleur's toggle-pivot design also requires less effort to operate. An alloy Ultegra 50/34T crankset and 11-32T Ultegra cassette bring a wide gearing range to every challenging ride. Hydraulic disc brakes aren't just for riding in the rain; better lever feedback and improved stopping power makes for safer braking in any conditions, wet or dry.

High performance can be found in the Emonda SLR's rolling stock as well. Bontrager's alloy Paradigm Comp wheels are disc-specific, and are tubeless-ready. They're shod with Bontrager's R3 Hard-Case Lite tires. Bontrager also supplies the saddle, accessory-ready alloy Blendr stem and alloy road handlebar.

The 50cm example in black/gunmetal we have is an H1 fit, rather than the more upright H2 fit.

Trek Emonda SLR 6 eTap
$7,850.00

The Emonda SLR can lay claim to the title "most refined road bicycle" for several reasons. Trek began using their latest 800 Series OCLV carbon fiber with the Emonda SLR, ensuring the best raw material and construction techniques. Finite Element Analysis was used to eliminate any excess carbon fiber, keeping total frame weight incredibly low. How low? Just under 700 grams for the bare frame. The frame and fork boast Kammtail Virtual Foil (or KVF) shaping, allowing it to cleave through the wind better than any round-tubed bicycle. 25 miles can be covered a minute faster with the new Emonda SLR. That same shaping keeps weight down compared to full-aero road bikes that can feel like a sailboat in gusty crosswinds.

The engineers at Trek knew that small details can add up when building a high-performance road machine like the Emonda SLR. Instead of a conventional seatpost, a Ride Tuned seat mast helps smooth out rough pavement. An aperture in the Emonda's left chainstay is for installing a DuoTrap S speed/cadence sensor (sold separately), eliminating the need for clumsy zip-ties. Room for 28mm road tires allows the Emonda SLR to handle rough and choppy pavement better than skinny rubber. A tapered head tube/steerer tube interface enhances torsional strength, adding sharpness to handling in high-speed turns and descents.

This Emonda SLR is equipped with SRAM's latest wireless 12-speed shifting technology called eTap AXS. Both derailleurs feature battery-driven servo motors to change gears, making every shift lightning-quick. The lack of physical connection eliminates cable routing headaches, and there are no cables or housing to foul or corrode. The batteries are detachable and will last 500-600 miles between charges. Battery status can be shown on the AXS smartphone app, too. The 48/35T Rival alloy crankset and 10-36T SRAM Rival cassette boast a wide gearing range for tackling challenging courses and hilly terrain. Did we mention that the Emonda SLR comes equipped with a SRAM power meter in the crankset's spindle?

The Emonda SLR's wheelset was developed in tandem with the bike. The Aeolus Pro 37's are built with OCLV carbon fiber rims in a "bullet-nosed" shape that resists crosswinds while still keeping drag very low. They're tubeless-ready, and come with valve stems and rim strips. Weighing in at roughly 1500 grams, these wheels are brilliant for criteriums, century rides and cyclocross but excel at climbing. They're shod with 700x25c tubeless Bontrager R3 Hard-Case Lite tires, bringing a smooth ride and confident grip to every mile. Reigning in speed is the job of the Emonda's hydraulic SRAM Rival disc brakes.

A SRAM AXS battery charger and tubeless tire sealant is included with the purchase of this bicycle.

Trek Emonda SLR 6 rim
$4,000.00 $6,000.00 33% Off

The Emonda SLR is one of Trek's flagship machines. Just pick it up, and you'll know...

Using absurdly, stupifyingly light 700 Series OCLV carbon fiber is just a small part of why the Emonda SLR is such an incredible bike. The frame engineers at Trek knew that the right combination of different qualities of carbon fiber can make a bike perform effortlessly. Immense torsional strength is needed to help with power transfer and precise handling. Measurable frame compliance can take the edge off rough pavement and keep the rider fresher for longer, making the difference in a final sprint to the finish line. Several different qualities of carbon fiber are used to produce these seemingly conflicting performance characteristics. When Trek uses their Optimum Compaction, Low Void (or OCLV) manufacturing process, they reduce the need for excess resin in the frame, keeping overall weight low and improving quality control.

They could use garden-variety frame elements seen on bikes around the world, but Trek knew they could make a bike better. A Ride Tuned no-cut seatmast and cap still allows for plenty of saddle adjustment, but the seatmast itself adds an extra dash of smoothness to the ride quality. It also cuts more weight off the Emonda SLR's frame, especially at the top of the bike where it counts more for out-of-the-saddle sprints and uphill efforts. A press-fit BB90 bottom bracket anchors the crankset while still keeping overall weight low. Adding a tapered head tube allowed the engineers to build an oversized down tube that enhances the frame's torsional strength while still keeping weight down. Direct-mount brake caliper installation improves frame strength as well as reducing weight. An aperture in the left chainstay is meant for a Bontrager DuoTrap S speed/cadence sensor, eliminating the need for clumsy zip-ties. Internal cable routing keeps the Emonda SLR looking clean and sleek, too. The more upright H2 fit of this Emonda SLR allows a wider range of riders -and rider flexibilities- to get comfortable.

Shimano's 11-speed Ultegra R8000 components are found throughout this Emonda SLR, including the dual-control levers, derailleurs, 50/34T compact crankset and direct-mount rim brakes. An 11-32T Shimano cassette offers a wide gearing range to help on fearsome inclines. Long life, precise operation and lightning-quick shifting are the hallmarks of Shimano's performance-oriented Ultegra component group. Bontrager's tubeless-ready alloy Paradigm Comp wheelset and 700x28c R3 Hard-Case Lite tires add easy acceleration and a smooth feel. Alloy Bontrager handlebars and accessory-ready stem keep the cockpit light and comfortable.

Trek Emonda SLR 7
$8,300.00 - $8,800.00
Lightness and aerodynamics can go hand in hand. The Emonda SLR 7 proves this! Trek knew that every road with elevation changes involves resisting the wind as well as resisting gravity. The Emonda SLR was built with the idea that a lightweight bicycle will still have to resist aerodynamic drag, even at low speeds. Since climbing is at the forefront of the Emonda SLR's design, Trek used their lightest-ever carbon fiber to build the frame: 800 Series OCLV. This new carbon fiber "recipe" is 30% stronger, resulting in razor-sharp handling and instant power transfer. The layup of different qualities of carbon fiber not only produce an ultralight frame, but also a smooth ride quality (a light bike isn't any fun if it rides like a chunk of granite). The frame still weighs less than 700 grams, and is built to accept flat-mount disc brakes. The engineers at Trek looked also at detailed frame shaping with Computational Fluid Dynamic (or CFD) software. The Emonda's Kammtail shaping allows the bike to cut through the wind effectively while still keeping overall weigh incredibly low. Even drag in crosswinds was analyzed to keep the bike stable at speed. Small details also helped with resisting drag: - Internal cable routing alone saves you nearly 55 seconds over an IronMan distance event. - An aperture in the left chainstay for a DuoTrap S speed/cadence sensor that eliminates the need for clumsy zip-ties - Cable and brake hose routing through the headset's top cap The Emonda SLR retains the proven features from previous generations of Emonda bicycles, like the no-cut Ride Tuned seat mast and cap. The bike's stage race geometry remains, making the Emonda SLR an excellent choice for century riders and criterium competitors alike. The Emonda SLR 7 comes equipped with Shimano's 11-speed electronic Ultegra Di2 shifting technology. Shifting performance is literally lightning-quick, and doesn't hesitate when changing gear under hard pedaling loads. Every shift is perfect. Every. Single. Time. The battery life is 900-1000 miles between charges, with the charging port tucked into the right handlebar end. A 52/36T Shimano Ultegra crankset is paired with an 11-30T Ultegra cassette, giving the Emonda SLR a generous gearing range for challenging courses and rides. The crankset itself is also shaped to be aerodynamic and is just as stiff as the previous generation for flex-free power delivery. The crankset is mounted in a threaded T47 bottom bracket for creak-free riding. Shimano's Ultegra Di2 levers feature an adjustable reach for smaller hands or when wearing thickly padded gloves. The Emonda SLR's Ultegra hydraulic disc brakes are a flat-mount design, improving pad wear and reducing the bike's overall weight. Disc brakes aren't just for stopping in the rain, they improve braking performance in all conditions, rain or shine. Bontrager supplies the rolling stock on the Emonda SLR 7. The carbon fiber Aeolus Pro 37 wheels are wrapped with Bontrager's 700x25c R3 tires, giving the bike confident grip in high speed turns and descents. The wheels are tubeless-ready, and the Emonda SLR 7 can take tires up to 28mm. The overall shape of the Aeolus Pro 37's cut through the wind effectively, but tip the scales at a mere 1500 grams. Bladed spokes and DT Swiss 350 rear hub internals add a quality finishing touch to these race-ready hoops. Up front, the Aeolus RSL OCLV Carbon integrated aero bar/stem does its job of soaking up high-frequency vibration while keeping weight very low. Brake hose and cable routing is done with channels under the handlebar, rather than inside for convenient servicing. A Bontrager Aeolus Elite saddle completes this dream machine. A Shimano Di2 charging cable is included with the purchase of this bicycle.
Trek Emonda SLR 7 P1
$8,400.00

This Emonda SLR 7 was built through Trek's Project One program, allowing us to stock a slightly different parts specification than the version seen on the Trek website. Read on for more!

The Emonda SLR frame boasts Trek's lightest-ever "recipe" for their proprietary carbon fiber: 800 Series OCLV. As a result, the Emonda SLR's frame is one of the the lightest mass-manufactured road frames in the world. At only 650 grams for a 56cm in an H1.5 fit, the Emonda SLR is the starting point for a world-beating dream machine. The Emonda SLR's frame shaping adds an extra dash of aero, allowing the rider to slice through the air much better than the previous generation. How much better? About 60 seconds faster over 25 miles on the flats when compared to the previous generation Emonda SLR. The Emonda SLR can be built up with your choice of components, wheels and paint scheme for a one-of-a-kind high-performance road bike through their Project One program. For example, this in-stock Project One example features a 50/34T compact Ultegra crankset for tackling really steep inclines. The "regular" version of the Emonda SLR 7 runs a 52/36T Ultegra crankset.

This Emonda SLR 7 has been built with "stage race" geometry, providing nimble handling without being nervous or twitchy. The head tube is tapered, adding to the Emonda's torsional strength for a precise feel in high-speed corners and descents. The threaded T47 bottom bracket also improves torsional strength further, adding to the bike's snappy feel when accelerating uphill or during a sprint. Ride quality was also addressed when the Emonda SLR was being designed, and the no-cut Ride Tuned seat mast allows for a more vertically compliant frame. An aperture for a Bontrager DuoTrap S speed/cadence sensor (sold separately) in the left chainstay and internal cable routing keeps the Emonda looking clean and sleek without clumsy zip-ties. Flat mount disc brake caliper installation reduces overall frame weight and improves lever feel and feedback. The Emonda SLR's frame design allow for slightly wider tires up to 30mm, improving ride quality while tackling rough and choppy tarmac.

Shimano's 11-speed Ultegra R8050 Di2 components are found throughout the Emonda SLR 6, including the dual-control levers, derailleurs, 50/34T compact crankset,11-34T cassette and even the chain. Long life, precise operation and literally lightning-quick shifting are the hallmarks of Shimano's performance-oriented Ultegra Di2 component group. A fully charged battery Di2 will last upwards of 900-1,000 miles between recharges. The battery itself is installed in the seat tube, keeping it and the internal wiring out of the weather and wind.

Bontrager's tubeless-ready OCLV carbon fiber Aeolus Elite 35 wheelset and 700x25c R3 Hard-Case Lite tires add easy acceleration and a smooth feel to the Emonda SLR. The wheels boast Bontrager's race-proven Dual Directional Design (or D3) rim profile, allowing the wheelset to resist crosswinds while still slicing through the wind. The bare wheelset weighs less than 1800 grams, keeping with the Emonda SLR 7's lightweight concept. Shimano Ultegra hydraulic disc brakes are not only fantastic in the rain, they give the rider a much better sense of stopping distance in every condition. A Bontrager Aeolus Elite saddle and Ride Tuned seatmast cap bring a comfortable perch for the rider, especially while in an aggressive in-the-drops position. Bontrager also supplies the ultralight Aeolus RSL carbon fiber road handlebar-and-stem unit. By cleverly tucking the Di2 shift wiring and hydraulic hosing into a recessed channel under the handlebar, the Emonda SLR is a much more integrated bike without being a nightmare to mechanics. There's even an aperture at the bar's leading edge for a Garmin computer (sold separately) to complete the cockpit of this high-performance bicycle.

A Shimano Di2 charging cable is included with the purchase of this bicycle.

Trek Emonda SLR 7 P1 w/RSL Wheels
$9,900.00

This is a Project One version of the already high performance Emonda SLR 7. When the hills get really steep, you need a bike that is ready for any incline.

The Emonda SLR was made for making every hill easier. Sure, the frameset has some measure of Kammtail Virtual Foil (orKVF) frame shaping to slice through the air, but being light is top priority. How light? 698 grams for the bare frame. Trek's 800 Series OCLV carbon fiber is their lightest raw composite material, giving the engineers at Trek free reign to develop gravity-defying dream machines like the Emonda SLR. The material is 30% stronger than the previous 700 Series OCLV carbon fiber; a perfect starting point for a world-beating machine. Power transfer hasn't been forgotten, either. A rigid T47 bottom bracket makes every pedal stroke flex-free, even when attacking a hill out of the saddle. Internal cable routing and an aperture for a DuoTrap S speed/cadence sensor (sold separately) in the left chainstay keeps the bike looking sleek. The Emonda SLR's H1.5 fit and geometry will fit a rider looking for a slightly more aggressive position, but without being mistaken for a pro.

The Emonda SLR 7's wheels are a perfect addition to this bike: The featherweight Aeolus RSL 37 Disc. Tipping the scales at a mere 1325 grams, this wheelset will make every acceleration close to completely effortless. They're tubeless ready, and boast a Dual Directional Design (or D3) rim profile that slices the air effectively while still resisting gusty crosswinds. 700x28c Bontrager R3 Hard-Case Lite tires offer a smoother ride experience while still cornering confidently.

Shimano's Ultegra electronic Di2 components make up the drivetrain, bringing lightning-quick operation, long service life, and very light weight. Electronic shifting delivers perfect shifting. Every. Single. Time. The shift buttons on the brake levers can be customized to favor right handers or left handers. A single charge can last 900 to 1,000 miles, depending on terrain and usage. The lithium ion battery is hidden in the seat tube, keeping it out of the wind and weather. This Emonda SLR 7 features an Ultegra crankset equipped with 50/34T compact chainrings. An 11-34T CS-HG800 11-speed cassette brings a huge gearing range to the party.

Hydraulic disc brakes aren't just for riding in the rain. The Ultegra hydraulic disc brakes found on this Emonda SLR 7 will also allow the rider to better predict stopping distances, thanks to better lever feedback. The flat-mount brake calipers reduce overall weight and promote more even pad wear.

Up front, this Emonda SLR 7 is equipped with an Aeolus RSL one-piece handlebar and stem unit. Built from OCLV carbon fiber, it weighs less than 300 grams. That's very little to add to the total weight of the bike! Channels under the handlebar allow for easy installation of hydraulic hosing and Di2 cables while keeping the front end of the bike very aero. A Bontrager Aeolus Elite saddle completes this high performance hill conqueror.

A Shimano DI2 charging cable is included in the purchase of this bicycle.

Trek Emonda SLR 7 eTap P1
$9,350.00

The Emonda SLR ultralight road bicycle has been an eye-opening performance machine for everyone who wants to tackle challenging terrain, from recreational road riders to pro-level racers. This Emonda SLR 7 eTap features SRAM's wireless eTap AXS 12-speed shifting, disc brakes and an extra dash of aero.

The Emonda SLR boasts a new carbon fiber "recipe" from Trek: 800 Series OCLV carbon fiber. With a frame weight of only 750 grams (that was not a misprint), the Emonda SLR is an incredible performance booster in hilly or mountainous terrain. Astounding lightness is not the only outcome when using this material. Improved torsional strength prevents frame-robbing flex with every pedal stoke. 800 Series OCLV carbon fiber also gave the engineers at Trek the leeway to add aerodynamic Kammtail shaping on the frame and fork. With a slipperier frameset, the latest version of the Emonda SLR will save a minute when riding 25 miles compared to the previous version. Internal cable routing and an aperture in the left chainstay for a DuoTrap S speed/cadence sensor (sold separately) keeps the Emonda SLR looking clean and sleek.

This Emonda SLR 7 comes with SRAM's latest 12-speed Force eTap AXS component group, boasting wireless shifting. With a servo motor moving the derailleur instead of a cable, shifting accuracy is always perfect. Every. Single. Time. The lightning-quick shifting speed will even prolong the lifespan of your chain. Each derailleur is equipped with a lithium ion battery that can be removed for easy charging. A full charge will last roughly 60 hours of riding. The SRAM eTap AXS batteries are completely interchangeable, allowing the batteries to be swapped between derailleurs in case one loses charge before the other during a ride. Charge levels can be monitored with a SRAM AXS smartphone app that can also update the drivetrain's firmware. The Emonda SLR's Force 48/35T crankset is paired with a SRAM Force XG-1270 10-33T cassette, bringing a huge gearing range to the party.

The Emonda SLR 7's wheels are Bontrager's Aeolus Pro 37's, wrapped with Bontrager R3 Hard-Case Lite 700x25c tires. Weighing only 1500 grams a set, the Pro 37's eagerly spin up to speed and slice through the wind like a razor. The Dual Directional Design (or D3) rim profile is crosswind resistant as well as very aero for a 37mm profile. SRAM Force hydraulic disc brakes perform brilliantly in all conditions, rain or shine.

Trek made sure the Emonda SLR 7's "furniture" would match the rest of the bike's capabilities. A One-piece OCLV carbon fiber Aeolus RSL handlebar and stem adds very little total weight to the bike, and keeps the cockpit very sleek. It has an aperture for a handlebar computer mount, eliminating the need for ugly strapwork. The Aeolus Elite saddle sits atop a Ride Tuned seatmast cap, completing this world-class performance machine.

A SRAM eTap battery charger is included with the purchase of this bicycle.

Trek Madone SL 6
$4,730.00

Could this be the one bike to rule them all?

The Madone SL 6 seems to be a favorite for many riders looking to upgrade for lots of reasons. From recreational riders to triathletes to crit racers, many are looking for a machine that does everything well. And at a reasonable price. When engineering the Madone SL 6, Trek started with their proprietary 500 Series OCLV carbon fiber, ensuring very light weight and impressive strength. Kammtail Virtual Foil (or KVF) frame shaping is used throughout the Madone SL 6, bestowing eye-opening drag numbers while keeping overall frame weight very low. Aero road bikes are frequently criticized for handling like a sailboat in gusty crosswinds, but the Kammtail frame shape presents a much smaller target to the wind, no matter what direction or angle. Internal cable and hose routing gives the Madone SL 6 a very clean, uncluttered profile to the wind. There's even an aperture for a DuoTrap S speed/cadence sensor in the left chain stay (sold separately), eliminating the need for clumsy zip-ties. The overall geometry of the Madone SL 6 is Trek's H1.5 fit, allowing for a more aggressive rider posture. Madone SL 6 Disc gives you the advanced aerodynamic performance and all-around ride quality of our ultimate race bike at a great value. It has aero wheels, a road-smoothing IsoSpeed decoupler, powerful hydraulic disc brakes, and a sleek look that screams for speed. It's right for you if... You want to go really freakin' fast. You also know a great value when you see it and appreciate the fit and customization options of a standard bar and stem and the all-weather stopping power of disc brakes. Why you'll love it - Adjustable Top Tube IsoSpeed lets you adjust compliance to your preference, and it's damped with an elastomer so it rebounds in a smooth, controlled, stable motion - All the aero advantages of Madone, plus the added capability to clip-on aero bars for triathlons and time trials - Disc brakes offer better braking performance and extra clearance for wider, more stable tires - The Madone seatpost has an integrated mount for the Bontrager Flare RT tail light

Trek Madone SL 7 eTap
$7,000.00

The current generation Madone has set a very high standard for aero road bikes. Now all that performance can be had for less...

Trek's current Madone has helped pro racers win some of the most prestigious victories in professional racing, including the 2019 world road championships in Yorkshire. Attaining that technological masterpiece is not quite as expensive as it used to be. Welcome to the Madone SL 7 eTap.

The Madone has been acclaimed as a brilliant aero bike, with very low drag to cheat the wind. The original Madone SLR Disc also boasts incredibly good ride quality -not just for an aero bike, but for road bikes in general- due to an adjustable IsoSpeed seat mast. This clever element of the Madone SLR is also found on the Madone SL's frame. It uses a slider on the base of the L-shaped IsoSpeed structure under the top tube. By moving the slider forward or backward, the seatmast can be made stiffer or softer, depending on rider weight, expected riding surfaces or ride distance. Triathletes will appreciate this, knowing that a smooth ride will benefit them during the run. Century riders will also smile, knowing the bike will still be smooth on broken tarmac. Racers will like IsoSpeed since the freshest rider is most likely the fastest in the final sprint to the finish.

Very light weight is still part of the Madone SL's attributes, thanks to Trek's exclusive 500 Series OCLV carbon fiber used throughout the frame. By using newer flat-mount disc brake installation and an H1.5 fit geometry, the frame of the Madone SL 7 eTap cuts weight in the right places. Like the current Madone SLR, Kammtail Virtual Foil (or KVF) tube shaping in used throughout the Madone SL's frame and fork, making the bike one of the slipperiest road bicycles today. The flattened trailing edge of the frame and fork tubes (the "Kammtails") make the bike far more resistant to gusty crosswinds compared to a classic teardrop shape, as well as cutting weight off the bike. An aperture in the left chainstay for a DuoTrap S speed/cadence sensor (sold separately) cuts aero drag by eliminated the need for clumsy zip-ties. Even the 3S chain keeper at the crankset has been given the low-drag treatment. A stout BB90 bottom bracket anchors the crankset for flex-free power delivery with every pedal stroke.

SRAM's Force AXS wireless electronic shifting isn't just about eliminating cables or wires. It delivers incredibly fast and precise gear changes. Every. Single. Time. Even under hard pedaling loads, the derailleurs snap from one cog or chainring to the next without hesitation. Each derailleur has an interchangeable battery with a charge life of about 500-600 miles. If one battery runs out before the other, they can be swapped to help finish a ride. A SRAM AXS smartphone app allows the user to determine battery charge, and even update the drivetrain's firmware. Cool, huh? A 48/35T SRAM Force carbon fiber crankset and a 10-33T SRAM XG-1270 cassette bring a wide gearing range to the Madone SL 7. Did we mention the integrated SRAM Force power meter in the crankset? With a Garmin or Wahoo handlebar computer (sold separately), you can get a better look at your training and meet your fitness and race goals.

Bontrager brings the tubeless-ready carbon fiber Aeolus Pro 5 wheelset to the Madone SL 7, adding a very aero profile for high speed performance. Bladed straight-pull spokes add and extra dash of aero to every mile. 700x25c Bontrager H3 Hard-Case Lite tires adds confidence during high speed turns and descents. SRAM Force hydraulic disc brakes help reign in speed in all conditions, wet or dry.

The Madone SL 7 eTap's "cockpit" consists of Bontrager's aero-bar friendly alloy Elite Aero VR-CF handlebar mounted on an accessory-ready alloy Bontrager Pro Blendr stem. A Bontrager Aeolus Comp saddle (shaped for riders who like an aggressive position on the bike) sits atop a micro-adjust Madone carbon fiber seatmast.

A SRAM AXS battery charger is included with the purchase of this bicycle.

Trek Madone SLR 6 rim H2 P1
$4,750.00 $7,250.00 34% Off

Aero road. Those two words carry plenty of weight these days. A sleek bike that practically encourages solo breakaways. Other aero road bikes have been saddled with a punishing ride quality and pudgy numbers on the scale. But not the Madone SLR.

Trek took a close look at the previous-gen Madone 9-series and looked at what worked and what could be improved upon. The new Madone SLR bikes are all constructed of Trek's premiere 700 Series OCLV carbon fiber, allowing the engineers free reign when designing in aerodynamics, lightness and torsional strength. The overall shape of the current (and previous) Madone road bicycles comes from a demanding field in aerodynamic design: Le Mans sportscars. When long-tail racing cars proved to be unstable in crosswinds, designers lopped off some of the tapered rear end of the cars. They discovered that the change had almost no effect on top speed, but helped to keep overall weight down as well as improve control in gusty crosswinds. Cool, huh? At speed, the airflow rejoins behind the car as if the bodywork was still there. Called Kammtail Virtual Foil (or KVF), the Madone's shape takes full advantage, making the bike a much lighter and more controllable machine.

From top to bottom, the Madone SLR takes well-thought details and produces a super-clean bike that shows almost nothing to the wind. By submerging all the cables inside the multi-piece handlebar, stem, frame and fork, the Madone SLR's drag number stay very low. An aperture in the left chainstay for a DuoTrap S speed/cadence sensor eliminates the need for clumsy zip-ties. Even the adjustable 3S chain keeper got an aero makeover.

All this might sound like the kind of stuff Trek's competitors would do when trying to build a copy of the Madone SLR. But there's one thing they can't build into their bikes: adjustable IsoSpeed. The previous generation Madone SLR took the world by storm with an IsoSpeed rear seat mast, making it more comfortable than plenty of road bikes in general, not just other aero road machines. With this Madone's adjustable IsoSpeed component found under the top tube, the bike can adjusted for different rider weights, different road surfaces and expected ride quality in general. Like the Domane SLR, two allen wrenches are all that's needed to do a roadside adjustment in seconds. The IsoSpeed unit also features a reduced rebound by 13%, keeping the bike from feeling "bouncy" over repeated impacts. A fresher rider will race the last mile of any event better than a tired rider. IsoSpeed just makes sense for everyone. This Madone SLR is built with Trek's more upright "H2" fit geometry, allowing a wider range of riders -and rider flexibilities- to get comfortable.

Shimano's 11-speed Ultegra R8000 components keep up with the rest of this new Madone SLR by adding better aerodynamic design, more precise operation and improved overall performance. The rear Shadow-style Ultegra derailleur is tucked out of the wind with a lower profile design, while also shifting more precisely under hard pedaling loads. The toggle-pivot Ultegra front derailleur also requires less hand strength to operate. The Ultegra levers are also an adjustable-reach design for smaller hands. A Shimano 105 crankset with 50/34T chainrings and a Shimano 105 11-30T cassette brings a wide gearing range to every hilly ride or race.

The Madone SLR 6's Bontrager Aeolus Pro 5 wheels are built with an OCLV carbon fiber rim with an eye towards very low drag. A 50mm deep rim and bladed spokes carve through the wind like a hot cinder through jell-o. The wheels are not only crazy light (1605 grams!), but also boast a slightly wider 19.5mm inner profile that allows a given tire's "footprint" to be wider for enhanced grip. Bontrager R2 Hard-Case Lite 700x25c bring a smooth feel and low rolling resistance to the Madone SLR.

This Madone SLR has a set of brake calipers integrated into the frame and fork, hiding from the wind better than many brakes on other bikes. They're direct-mount, 2-bolt units enhancing brake lever feedback and improving pad life. Pads specific to a carbon fiber wheel's brake track are installed.

A Bontrager Aeolus Comp saddle sits atop the IsoSpeed seat mast, adding a comfortable perch to the bike. The Madone-specific stem allows the shift and brake cables to be routed internally, while the KVF-profiled carbon fiber handlebar can be rotated and adjusted for a more precise fit.

Breathtaking, isn't it? After years of in-house engineering and thousands of hours of road testing, Trek has produced an aero road bicycle that is nothing short of brilliant.

The Madone model started in 2004 as the original aero road bike: Lightweight, but equipped with tapered tube shapes and "tails" on the frame, allowing it to slice through the air more cleanly. This machine, the sleekest version yet of the Madone, takes aerodynamics very seriously. Fully internal brake hose routing and and Kammtail Virtual Foil (or KVF) frame shaping keeps the Madone's drag numbers astonishingly low. In fact, the only cable visible to the wind is found at the rear derailleur! But before a single aerodynamic line of the new Madone was drawn, the carbon fiber used to build the bike had to be revolutionary.

Trek's 800 Series OCLV carbon fiber is constructed of different qualities of raw carbon material, allowing the Madone's frameset to resist torsional twisting, maintain a smooth ride quality, and keep weight astonishingly low. By compacting the raw carbon fiber material during heated curing, Trek reduces the amount of resin needed for each frame, ensuring excellent quality control from the first frame to the last. Finite Element Analysis allowed the engineering team at Trek to refine every square inch of raw material used in the Madone's frame, so no extra carbon fiber will be found anywhere from the smallest size to the largest. Even the Madone's fork got the same obsessive attention to detail as the rest of the frame, including the same KVF shaping and all-carbon OCLV construction.

With all that going for it, the Madone design team could've call it a day. But they didn't. They had a long list of already-existing technologies that Trek had in its library to add to the Madone. Here's the short list:

  • A tapered head tube that enhances handling, especially in high-speed turns and descents
  • A threaded T47 bottom bracket, ensuring rock-solid power delivery through the crankset
  • Trek's own adjustable IsoSpeed decoupler technology at the seat tube/down tube juncture that smoothes out rough pavement, keeping the rider fresher for longer
  • An aperture in the left chainstay allows the installation of a DuoTrap S speed/cadence sensor (sold separately) without the use of clumsy zip-ties
  • An aero-shaped 3S chain keeper that prevents chain drop, and the greasy fingers and roadside delays that come with it

Shimano hasn't been caught napping either. Their latest 12-speed Ultegra Di2 components are also found through the Madone SLR 7. Yes, 12 speeds have come to Shimano road shifting. The shift levers are now wireless, eliminating pesky wiring to be routed through frames and under bar tape. The derailleurs are still connected to a central battery, and are recharged at a covered port on the rear derailleur. Recharging is needed about every 900-1,000 miles. Upgraded details on the Ultegra components deliver an even better riding experience:

  • The shift buttons are slightly stepped, reducing the chance of mis-shifting with heavy gloves
  • A single derailleur will work with all available 12-speed cassette sizes, from 11-28T to 11-34T
  • Shimano's latest Servo Wave variable-ratio brake lever design gives even better feedback to help prevent skidding at high speeds
  • The front derailleur shifts noticeably faster, allowing a rider put continuous force into the crankset while still preserving chain life
  • A revised lever hood shape made with tackier rubber is even more comfortable
  • The drivetrain's wireless signal allows the Ultegra components to communicate with handlebar computers from Garmin and Wahoo for displaying gearing
Bontrager supplies the rolling stock for the Madone SLR 7, with the Aeolus Pro 51 wheels enhancing the bike's already low drag numbers. The bullet-nosed D3 (Dual Directional Design) rim profile keeps drag low in crosswinds as well as headwinds. Bladed stainless steel spokes cleave through the air while still providing a smooth ride. Weighing only 1590 grams, they accelerate out of corners easily. They're tubeless-ready, and are shod with 700x25c Bontrager R3 Hard-Case Lite tires with the new TR rubber compound.
