The FP80 takes a lot out of riding. The deep 82mm depth of these wheels cuts right through the air like a razor, that’s right, Flashpoint hasn’t made a wheel, they’ve made the worlds first air razor that you can use as a bicycle wheel. The FP80s clock in at 2,093 grams for the set.

Flashpoint wheels are basically a traditional aluminum wheel with a carbon fiber fairing for aerodynamic improvement. This is cool and here is why.

In addition to doing it’s job directing airflow, the carbon dampens vibration, giving you a smoother and more comfortable ride. The traditional wheel inside offers several advantages that a full carbon wheel lacks. Because it has an aluminum braking surface it uses less expensive traditional brake pads. It also makes the wheel more durable, you’ll get a lot of use from a set of Flashpoints and they use clincher tires.

So in short you get the aero advantage without the drawbacks of full carbon and for less money. Gotta like that.
