IMBA Trail Care Day

On Saturday, August 9, Machinery Row sent a few volunteer representatives to take part in the International Mountain Bicycling Association’s trailbuilding school at Camrock 3 park near Cambridge, WI.  IMBA taught the group the basics behind sustainable trail design and how to create fun, while lasting single track mountain bike trails.

Some of the basic principles included planning trails with no greater than 15% grade changes, an erosion-resistant 5% sideslope on the footbed of the trail, and how to incorporate structures and trail filters to overcome difficult landscape obstructions and keep riders on skill-appropriate routes. Many thanks to the Capital Off Road Pathfinders for hosting the event and bringing IMBA to area.
