Speed Concept 9 Series
When Trek decided to improve upon the Equinox TTX, many in the company’s design studios knew they had a big job on their hands. Didn’t the TTX carry Lance Armstrong and Levi Leipheimer to time trial wins in the Tour? Didn’t it prove itself countless times in triathlon victories around the world? How could it be surpassed? The Speed Concept was born after the Trek aerodynamicists came across an aerofoil concept invented by Wunibald Kamm. Many in the cycling community knew that a long-tail aerodynamic teardrop shape cut through a headwind nicely, but was heavy and frequently tossed around in crosswind situations. Kamm realized when the aerodynamic teardrop shape was cut off near the back, the airstream still followed a clean line with minimal turbulence, almost as if the removed more>>
2011 Trek Speed Concept 9.9
The Speed Concept 9.9 is Trek’s finest bicycle for riding against the watch. Triathletes have discovered that aerodynamics play a major role in achieving top performance on the bike. A smooth, comfortable ride quality is paramount in reducing rider fatigue for maximum speed, especially when the course includes rough and choppy pavement. The Speed Concept 9.9 can give a ride both benefits due to it’s Wisconsin-made OCLV2 carbon frame. The frame’s KVF shaping allows the Speed Concept to slice through the air, but still reduce weight and vulnerability to crosswinds. Ultralight SRAM Red components, including a 53/39T crankset and R2C shifters, produce razor-sharp shifts. Bontrager Aeolus 6.5 carbon wheels reduce drag, weight and fatigue in equal measure. Bontrager Speed Concept aero bars, more>>
2011 Speed Concept 9.5
The Speed Concept 9.5 shares the same frame as the 9.9, and is equipped with a value-laden component package. Shimano’s Ultegra 10-speed drivetrain runs around a 53/39T crankset. Bontrager Race Lite Aero aluminum wheels slice the air with blade spokes and reduce rotating weight for the hills. The same Speed Concept S-bend aero bars, base bar and seatpost found on the 9.9 is added here, too. Even the hidden brake calipers aren’t left out. Come in and see the Speed Concept 9.5 for more>>
2011 Trek Speed Concept 7.0 and 7.0 WSD
All the advanced aerodynamic frame design found on the Speed Concept 7.5 is also found on the Speed Concept 7.0 and 7.0 WSD. A TCT frame gives me SRAM’s Apex 10-speed component group rounds out the drivetrain, including a 50/34T compact crank and 11-28 cassette for the easiest hill-climbing gears found on a tri-bike. A fully adjustable aero bar make the Speed Concept 7.0’s an easy fit, and the Bontrager SSR aluminum wheelset makes for a smooth, light ride quality. Internal cable routing, a hidden chainstay mounted rear brake and DuoTrap sensor aperture covers all the details on this groundbreaking machine. The WSD version of the Speed Concept 7.0 has sizes down to XS with a 28.6” standover height and a 46.9cm top tube length to fit a wider ranger of riders and fitting more>>
2011 Trek Speed Concept 9.8 WSD
Looking to qualify for Kona? We have your ultimate speed machine! Ultra-light Wisconsin-made OCLV2 carbon fiber has been shaped and wind-tunneled to within an inch of it’s life! SRAM’s 10-speed Force components even have a carbon 53/39T crank. Bontrager Aeolus 5.0 carbon clincher wheels are wrapped with Bontrager’s R4 tires. The integrated carbon aero bars are easily adjustable for a best possible fit. This bicycles comes with a free fit, before component substitutions. This is our last more>>
2012 Trek Speed Concept 2.5
Advanced aerodynamics aren’t the sole realm of carbon fiber triathlon bikes. The Trek Speed Concept 2.5 uses an Alpha aluminum frame shaped to slice through the wind using Trek’s KVF aerodynamics. The fun doesn’t end there… SRAM’s 10-speed Apex components are found throughout the drivetrain, including a 50/34T crank and an 11-28 cassette. The rear brake is also tucked under the bottom bracket for even more wind-cheating. The Bontrager Race Lite alloy aero bars and stem are easy to fit a wide range of riders. If you’ve been on a road bike for your triathlons, it’s time to take another look at what Trek can more>>
2012 Trek Speed Concept 2.5 WSD
Trek cut no corners when building an aluminum triathlon bike that combined performance and value. The Alpha aluminum frame uses the same KVF aerodynamic profile as the 7-Series Speed Concept machines, allowing it to save you minutes on your bike split. SRAM’s 10-speed Apex derailleurs, bar-end shifters and 50/34T compact crankset perform smoothly on the race course. Bontrager Race Lite alloy aero bars are easy to adjust for a comfortable position for long days on the bike. Bontrager alloy wheels and tires complete this swift more>>
2012 Trek Speed Concept 7.8
Trek introduced the Speed Concept 7.8 to shake up not only the triathlon bike industry, but their customers’ competition. The 7.8 uses Kammtail Virtual Foil shaping on the frame and fork to improve aerodynamics in both headwinds and crosswinds. If you wonder where KVF technology came from, just look at Le Mans sportscar racing during the last 40 years! Aerodynamic touches include top tube mounts for a Bontrager DraftBox gel holster, chainstay aperture for a DuoTrap sensor and dovetail slot for a SpeedBox tool box. The SRAM Force 10-speed drivetrain is responsive and easy to use, and includes a 53/39T crankset for really fast bike splits. Can the 7.8 go any faster? The Bontrager Aura 5 carbon clincher wheels should help, too. Bontrager Race X Lite carbon base bars and Race Lite alloy more>>2012 Trek Speed Concept 9.9
It could be argued that this is as good as it gets for bikes to be ridden against the watch. Triathlons or time trials, it makes no difference. You need a bike that is light, comfortable, stiff for efficiency, and -above all- aerodynamic. No, scratch that. It needs to disappear. It all starts with the Wisconsin-made 600-series carbon fiber frame and fork produced with KVF aerodynamic design. Hidden brake calipers, an aperture for a DuoTrap speed/cadence sensor, internal cable routing and even an aero-shaped SC Draft Box for tools and tubes make this a bike that has all the details nailed down. A BB90 bottom bracket holds the SRAM Red 53/39T crankset for maximum power transfer. SRAM’s Red components are found throughout the drivetrain and are shifted with R2C levers at the end of the more>>2012 Trek Speed Concept 9.5

The Speed Concept 7.5 is game-changing carbon tri-bike that is ready for any distance. 500 series carbon fiber makes up the skeleton of this super-slippery machine, using Kammtail Virtual Foil aerodynamics. Shimano’s Ultegra components are found throughout, including the 53/39T crankset, derailleurs and front brake caliper. Where’s the rear caliper, you ask?. The Speed Concept caliper is cleverly hidden from the wind under the bottom bracket! Bontrager Race Lite alloy blade-spoked wheels keep the aero theme going, while Bontrager supplies the cockpit, including the aero bars, saddle and carbon base bars.
