2008 Orbea Orca

Orbea didn’t intend on making art when the Orca was in development, but the result has won three European design awards. The Orca’s designer, Miriam Bengoetxea frequently thought “out of the box” when approaching how a carbon fiber bicycle should be built. By tapering the wall thicknesses of the shaped tubing depending on the frame size, the Orca is made very torsionally rigid, but has excellent ride quality. Built with Toray’s most advanced fibers (M40J and high-modulus M30S), the Orca has utilized these materials with innovation and creativity.
