Long miles and steep hills can be a harsh judge of fitness, but a bike that transmits your every move into forward motion can be freeing. Trek’s Madone 3.1 begins with 300 Series OCLV carbon fiber for the frame and fork, producing a light and strong backbone that is surprisingly comfortable and responsive. The oversized bottom bracket shell and tapered head tube focus your energy into getting down the road with ease. Shimano’s 10-speed 105 components make up the shifters and rear derailleur, shifting smoothly with minimal input. The compact 50/34T SRAM crankset is paired with a 12-30T cassette for an incredible range of hill-climbing gears. Alloy Bontrager wheels are wrapped with 23mm tires, keeping road buzz to a minimum. Bontrager also supplies the Affinity saddle (Affinity WSD on women’s version), handlebars, alloy stem and seatpost.
