A well-spec’ed aluminum bike shouldn’t be hard to find. Trek’s 2.1 is not only a well-manned road machine, but is also a category leader with excellent components. The 2.1’s carbon fiber fork will cut road vibration and weight, making all the difference on your first century. Shimano’s 10-speed 105 components are found in the drivetrain, including shifters, derailleurs and 11-28T cassette for fast, smooth shifting. Bontrager’s alloy SSR wheelset can handle rough and choppy pavement, and are wrapped with Bontrager R1 tires. Bontrager components are also found at the handlebars, stem, saddle and seatpost. All this on an Alpha Black aluminum frame? That’s what makes a Trek so good.
