Pinning on a number for your first cross-country mountain bike race requires more than just courage, it needs a bike that won’t hold you back or break your budget. Enter, the Trek X-Caliber 8. Trek’s Alpha Gold aluminum tubing has been hydroformed to construct a featherweight frame that won’t feel rubbery on technical trails. The X-Caliber 8 is offered in 7 sizes for a wide range of rider sizes, and in two wheel sizes depending on the frame for a more proportional fit. Internally routed shifter cables give the X-Caliber 8 a clean look, too. A RockShox XC32 suspension fork provides 100mm of suspension travel that can be adjusted for rider weight and terrain. SRAM X5 10-speed shifters operate an X5 front derailleur and an X7 rear derailleur for perfect operation and compatibility. A SRAM 36/22 crankset and wide range cassette means a massive gearing range for roller-coaster race courses. Helping to reign in speed -be it wet or dry- is the job of Shimano M395 hydraulic disc brakes. Bontrager Mustang Elite tubeless-ready wheels are shod with 2.2 inch XR1 tires for confident grip in rock gardens. A Bontrager Evoke 1.5 saddle, alloy seatpost, Low Riser handlebar and Race Lite stem make this a race-ready machine.
