Yes, this is an aero road bike. Trek’s KVF (Kammtail Virtual Foil) tube shaping allow the Madone 2.1 to slice through the air at 40kph while saving 25 watts of rider output. That’s a big deal in a road race, triathlon or just shooting for a PR on a century ride! The down tube, seat tube, seat stays and fork all get the KVF shaping treatment. Trek’s 200 Series aluminum keeps weight down while improving the frame’s torsional rigidity. A huge BB86.5 press-fit bottom bracket anchors the crankset for lightning-fast pedaling response. Adding an E2 tapered head tube improves the Madone 2.1’s handling, especially during high speeds and descents. Internal cable routing keeps the Madone 2.1 looking clean and sleek, while a SpeedTrap aperture in the right fork leg keeps an ANT+ sensor (sold separately) positioned perfectly without zip-ties. Adding fenders is easy with the vanishing fender mounts. The carbon fiber fork is no cookie-cutter piece, but a KVF aero model with a tapered steerer. The Madone’s H2 fit geometry features a taller head tube for a comfortable fit for a wider range of riders and flexibilities.
Shimano’s latest 11-speed 105 components adorn the Madone 2.1, boasting precise operation and long service life. The shifters, derailleurs, 11-28 cassette, and even the chain are all Shimano’s 105 components. A Shimano compact crankset adds a wider range of climbing gears for day-long hill-climbs. Bontrager brings alloy tubeless-ready wheels to the bike, as well as 23mm R1 Hard-Case tires for fast acceleration and a smooth road feel. Bontrager also adds a Paradigm saddle, alloy seatpost, handlebar and Race Lite stem to complete the cockpit.
