While the recreational riders will reach for a Madone for their “dream bike”, more competitive riders will want an even more responsive machine. The backbone to any performance bicycle is the frame, and Trek’s OCLV Black carbon frame has all the features found on Astana’s ProTour bikes, but in a WSD fit that works better for female riders. The Madone 5.5 WSD has SRAM’s Force component group, with it’s light and quick-shifting derailleurs. The 50/34 crankset has carbon arms with an oversized bottom bracket spindle for immediate acceleration. The “DoubleTap” dual control levers have an adjustable reach for smaller hands. Reaching for the handlebars is made easier with the shallow-drop FIR VR handlebar, while the saddle is Bontrager’s Race Lite FIT design for comfort on long rides.
