The refinement of Trek’s FX series continues through 2011, with the 7.9FX as the flagship of the line.  A full carbon-fiber Trek Carbon Technology frame with a Bontrager Nebula carbon-fiber fork provides a light and efficient backbone for miles of comfortable riding.  The frame has the IsoZone insert just above the rear brake caliper.  This vibration damping system will soak up rough and choppy pavement making the miles much more comfortable.  Considering clipless pedals?  This bike comes with a pair of Shimano 505 SPD-style pedals that will work with your favorite mountain bike or touring shoes.  The quality extends to the components with Shimano’s 105 triple crankset and 10-speed rear cogset.  Yes, that’s 30 speeds to get you over the steepest hills (or mountains!).  The Shimano Ultegra derailleurs are operated by a set of Shimano mountain bike-style shifters that are designed to work with road components.  With Bontrager’s blade-spoke Race wheels shod with Bontrager Race Lite “Hardcase” tires, the 7.9FX feels less like a neighborhood cruiser and more like a sophisticated road bike.  This machine is ready for the open road.
