2009 Remedy 7
Colors:
Black/WhiteThe concept of the freeride full-suspension mountain bike is recent in the history of off-road riding. Bikes light enough to ride off-road and uphill weren’t that good at going back down the other side, especially if it got rough and technical. That is, until lighter frames and lighter suspensions were developed. The Remedy series is the culmination of Trek’s experience in producing a bike that can handle all but the roughest of downhills, but still be light enough to climb well. The Remedy 7 has a hydroformed Alpha “red” aluminum frame, with Trek’s revolutionary Active Braking Pivot -or ABP- rear suspension. The rearmost suspension pivot rotates around the rear axle, eliminating the stiffening of the suspension under hard braking during a rough descent. The rear suspension unit is an air-adjustable Fox RP2 XV, giving 6 inches of suspension travel. The suspension fork is a Rock Shox Lyric IS with up to 6 1/4” of adjustable travel, and holds the front wheel hub with a stout 20mm “Maxle” for effective tracking through rough, fast turns. Even the fork crown has a 1.5” headset bearing to improve rigidity and handling under braking. Bontrager’s Rhythm wheelset is tubeless ready and is shod with 2.35” wide Kenda Nevegal tires. The crankset, shifters, front derailleur and rear derailleur are Shimano’s new-for-2009 SLX components, giving a 27-speed drivetrain. Braking is done with Avid’s massive Juicy 5 disc brakes. Bontrager components are found at the seat, seatpost, stem and 40mm high-rise handlebar. Ready for an all-day ride on a trail you used to have to walk down? The Remedy 7 sure is. The Trek Remedy series bikes are available in sizes 15.5”, 17.5”, 19.5” and 21.5”
